From Speakupwny.com WNY News Linwood Health Care resident Lottie McCallum celebrated her 105th birthday on Monday, September 25, 2006. While celebrating her birthday with family and friends, enjoying music, cake, balloons, et al, Lancaster Town Supervisor Robert Giza paid a visit to extend his personal well wishes and to deliver a Town Proclamation in her honor.
PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the Town Board of Lancaster, New York, recognizes LOTTIE McCALLUM, longtime resident of the Town of Lancaster, in celebrating her 105th birthday. WHEREAS, LOTTIE was born in Tyre, Michigan. She married Ray McCallum in 1922. They met at Murphy’s Five and Ten-Cent Store. “Ray always said he met a million-dollar baby at a five and ten. They were married for 35 years. Lottie McCallum worked for Western Electric for twenty years. WHEREAS, LOTTIE spent many years volunteering for various organizations, including the American Red Cross, the Handicapped Association, the Blind Association and the Salvation Army. For her 100th birthday, the Salvation Army gave her a party complete with a limousine ride. She is an honorary lifetime member of the Physically Disabled Association. Lottie also enjoyed traveling, which included four visits to Germany, as well as Italy, Austria, Hawaii and Florida.
