A representative from Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s office will speak to members of the Greater Buffalo Chapter of the American Red Cross on the topic of Medicaid Fraud Awareness. The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (“MFCU”), the largest unit within the Attorney General’s Criminal Division, is the centerpiece of New York’s effort to investigate, penalize, and prosecute individual and companies responsible for improper or fraudulent Medicaid billing schemes. In addition, the MFCU is the only law enforcement agency in the state specifically mandated to investigate and prosecute abuse and neglect of residents in nursing homes, hospitals, and other facilities that provide care to unrelated adults.

As happened this past March, a group of 15 Lancaster residents appeared before their Town Board to seek assistance in ending the risk of airplane mishap and nuisance that is the result of Buffalo-Lancaster Airport pilots not following flight path requirements. “We want to be safe in our homes,” residents repeatedly told the board.

At Monday evening’s Lancaster Town Board meeting, resident Donna Lukowski inquired about the North Aurora sewer pumping station located near Southpoint Drive. She declared that bids were entered to update the facility in 2007 and now she understands they want to put in a new 2.7 mile new sewer line and decommission the pumping station facility, but cap it off so that they may use the facility in the future if needed.
