Lancaster buys La Farge land for dumping ?

The Town Highway Department has begun dumping road scrapings and dirt fill at the La Farge site in LANCASTER, 6125 GENESEE STREET .

One can only hope that there's a plan to monitor the run off that could affect Ellicott Creek or our water shed.

Its a commonly known fact asphalt contains toxic materials.

Many say , as long as its in solid form its safe. The fill dumped into this site will be ground up road materials - therefore everything from large chunks to asphalt dust will be present.

We can only hope the was approved and or considered by the EPA and any other concern agency.

Also, there has a on going debate about the cost to widen William Street - maybe this could be used there instead of ultimately burying it near a Creek.

Just some observations, concerns and opinion !

They also claimed asbestos was safe, Recently it was stated, " it will cost about $8,000 to remove two asbestos pipes from the Lancaster dog kennel site" Two pieces of pipe - it will cost taxpayers $8,000.00 to contain and dispose.

Years ago we were allowed to recycle asphalt and restoring use in our roads. But I believe it has become to taboo. Now the only use for them seem to be for private and commercial use.

More than likely they are just dropping it off at the swift river dump site . Free of charge and it does get recycled.it's a common practice.

You may want to contact the real dept to deal with your gripe it's the DEC. And tell them how afraid you are. More than likely they will laugh. Again it's common practice to recycle .

Well it seems as if they did buy it? 95000 seems like a fair price
If you tell a big lie, tell it frequently enough. They will begin to believe it. Welcome to Lancaster
