What a back door deal ? When did the Town or the school Board point this out

Who's paying for that little project ? What's the true cost to taxpayers ?

When did the Town of Lancaster or School Board tell the public they were buying Uniland property for this new school buss fascilty ?

Looks like some fancy double talk mixed in here:

"A new transportation facility will be constructed at 4082 Walden Avenue(Uniland Property).

The new transportation site is in a commercial/ distribution area rather than the current residential area. It is also more centrally located which will provide efficiencies in routing.

    Why a new transportation Facility?

    1956 (originally built) • 18 buses • student enrollment under 1,000 • 1 mechanic/1 lift • smaller buses 2015 (same building) • 100+ buses • student enrollment 6,000+ • 8 mechanics with 2 lifts
THE TIME IS NOW • Bond interest rates are at historical lows • the retirement of previous debt service results in no net tax increase • leaf has partnered with the district to provide unprecedented enhancements the district could not otherwise afford • $49.6 million of the project cannot Be delayed Because of health and safety concerns

Base project $49.6 million leaf opportunities* $7.7 million total proposition $57.3 million Vote Tuesday, May 19, 2015"

    * The portions of the project labeled LEAF opportunities will only come to fruition if LEAF raises $1 million to offset the local share of this portion of the work. Details on LEAF’s capital campaign fundraising can be found at www. nyleaf.org.

    Who is LEAF ? http://www.nyleaf.org/about.html

What high dollar fund raising ability due they have ? How many scholarships and grants have they actually produced ?

So far - They appear to have managed four(4) one thousand dollar($1000.00) scholarships over a four year period.

    4248,
    Interesting...
Are you a NO vote for the Capital Project?
Or are you playing Woodward and Bernstein just for kicks?

    They are proposing relocating the bus facilities to a site along Walden Avenue, adjacent (west) to the Eastport Commerce site. The district owns 30 acres of property; purchased in 1956 for $15,000;

    Was Uniland there in 1956?

Its seems there is some stretching of words - The LEAF Group is not "Providing Funding" - they will have to do fund raisers to find the $1Million dollars - isn't that factual ?

"* The portions of the project labeled LEAF opportunities will only come to fruition if LEAF raises $1 million to offset the local share of this portion of the work. Details on LEAF’s capital campaign fundraising can be found at www. nyleaf.org."

Also - we will be "bonding" (borrowing money) for these projects - its just being said it wont increase our "Tax load" - that's as long as the State comes through with all the promised aid. - isn't that also factual ?

Lee also stated, "The ‘no tax increase’ to the resident is disingenuous as we are the state. But this is the way the system works and we would be foolish not to partake of it. This is the same mantra the town uses every time it gets a grant – if we didn’t take and use the money someone else would"

Just tryin to clarify the facts behind the "LEAF Gift"

The earlier information provided by the school district that the property designated for a new transportation facility is located on Walden Avenue, just west of the undeveloped Uniland owned Eastport Commerce industrial park, is correct.

The 30-acre property was purchased in 1956 for $15,000; and yes, there was no Uniland then. Uniland purchased its Walden Avenue property within the last 15 years.

There's no stretching of words. L.E.A.F. will try to raise the money to provide the funding. If they don't, it won't happen.

In 2013, L.E.A.F. raised among others
$41,104 for the Bryce Buchholz Memorial skatepark.
$16,548 to supplement the Lancaster school's Academy of Finance budget. No money went towards teacher salaries.
$10,081 to supplement the Lancaster school's Boys LaCrosse team budget for equipment and supplies. No salaries.
$27,795 for other programs such as a $750. scholarship, Lancaster Athletic club booster banquet, Lancaster school district Sports Hall of Fame program, Lancaster Youth football, Odyssey of the mind program, Lancaster Youth foundation

In 2012, L.E.A.F. raised among others
$15,343 for the Bryce Buchholz Memorial skatepark
$10,000 for the school's antibullying programs
$8,129 to supplement the Lancaster school's Academy of Finance budget. No money went towards teacher salaries.
$27,179 for other programs such as $500. scholarship, Lancaster youth football equipment expenses, Drugs and substance abuse program at the Lancaster Youth bureau

They have much larger goals this time around. They can hit up people like the Salvatores or the Basils and other business leaders.

Just trying to have all the facts on the table.

Repair costs $3Million - New Building $9.79Millions and if past projects are any guide - that will grow !

"New transportation building - $9.79 million

When the current transportation building was examined it was determined that it needed $3 million in work. The building was built in 1958 and the bus garage is no longer a safe place. It is undersized and only has two lifts and they need to be replaced. The concrete is cracking around the lifts and the area to remove tires and work safely is also undersized"

When were the "Safety Violations" filed or weren't any?

Are employees being hurt ? Close working quarters is one thing - "Unsafe" is another !

I don't disagree with this post. $3 million in repairs is a lot cheaper than $9.79 million in a new build. My previous post was to show that LEAF is in the fundraising business for our youth. That is what they intend to do for the athletic field etc.
