Grand jury in Ferguson case reaches decision, prosecutor's office says

A grand jury reached a decision Monday in the case against the Ferguson police officer who shot and killed an unarmed black teenager in August, touching off nationwide protests and cries of police brutality.

The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney in St. Louis County, Mo., said the decision would be revealed at 9 p.m. ET, though gave no indication whether Darren Wilson would be charged in the killing of 18-year-old Michael Brown.

Ferguson, Missouri, and the surrounding area were on edge for weeks as a grand jury decided whether Officer Darren Wilson would be charged in the August shooting death of unarmed teenager Michael Brown. After weeks of waiting, that decision has been made, and will be announced Monday night at 9 p.m. ET.

Crowd grows as Ferguson grand jury announcement nears

Ferguson, Missouri (CNN) -- While protesters chanted late Monday for an indictment in the shooting death of Michael Brown, officials called for calm as the world awaits word of the grand jury's decision.
"No matter what is announced, people will be emotional. I want people to think with their heads and not with emotion," said St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley. "This is not the time to turn on each other. It is a time to turn to each other."
Protesters were gathering outside the police department in Ferguson. Darren Wilson, a white police officer with the department, shot and killed Brown, a black teenager, on August 9.

If they did not indict, it is going to be ugly. The criminal elements will use it as an excuse and opportunity to commit crimes. The racists will use the crime as an opportunity to reinforce a and promote their bigotry.

The national news stations need something to replace the now non-story of the Buffalo snow storm. Perfect timing for them.

I think Michael browns friend should be charged for lying to police about what happened. The abrasions and video do not support Dorian version of events and he was lying.

    So sad

I feel sorry for the neighbors who live in that area that is now on fire. The beauty saloon, the barbershop, McDonalds , are all used by the local residents. The elderly, retirees use McDonalds as their meeting place every morning just to get out of the house and in a warm place to chat with their friends. Now it is burned to the ground. So many of these local businesses were owned by minorities. The burning of these local places makes no sense. I feel sorry for the kid's family who was killed. This senseless rioting and looting just makes so many others think like in the past and that is they are all a bunch of animals. Such a setback for race relations. Protest but not loot and burn. Why why why would they destroy their own neighborhood? such a waste
