Maybe now that flooding is a issue - maybe Gov Cuomo could find out why Buffalo Crushed Stone on Wherle and Harris Hill is allowed to pump millions of gallons of water into Ellicott Creek - even during high water and flood stages?

24/7/365 the quarry adds millions of gallons of water into Ellicott Creek - increasing the down stream loads for Williamsville, Clearance and Tonawanda !

Many - many home owners pay heavy flood insurance to FEMA yearly - thousands of dollars per home ! Damage caused by high water events could be decreased by stopping the extra input by the stone quarry.

One symptom of this dumping is the continual artificial saturation of the area between Stony Road all the way down rt 33 to Bowmansville - year round saturation. This stops that same area from acting as a natural sponge. Wetlands all over Lancaster have been filled - forcing more water into Cayuga Creek, Ellicott Creek and others.

The DEC has been vary lacks in wetlands and flood plain protections. - Recently it was proven the stone quarry sent so much lime stone loaded water into Ellicott Creek - it turned gray for over a week - birds , fish and beavers were affected. The eco system was adversely affected - yet the DEC did little if anything to imposed future restrictions and safe guards.

Maybe the Governors People could look into this to help protect Creeks, wetlands and flood zones ?
