Was Tony Saying What Many People Think Regarding Sam?

    by Zachary Husser

    Dear Family of Friends,

Former NFL-coach Tony Dungy’s position is what is said in the closed conversations of most professional locker rooms. The NFL has put in rule legislation that penalizes other NFL Players if “they” don’t come through with positive comments about Michael Sam, the first openly gay NFL player. Well, you can’t legislate behavior nor acceptance in the National Football League on what people believe. Read more...

Who really cares? We are 18 TRILLION in debt, we are being invaded along the border, and our governor just blew off a subpoena. Why don't you write about that?

Way off on this one boss - you say him being gay is a religous issue - or one that has nothing to do with class/race struggle !

    by Zachary Husser

In concluding, I’m tired of sports writers always connecting “Gay Rights” Issues with Civil Rights tragedies that Black Folk went through to get a foot into the United States Society. The two movements have nothing in common and thousands of Gay Folk didn’t die to get the rights that Civil Rights Ancestors of mine died for. What we need to do is stop stating that this Michael Sam drafting by the St. Louis Rams is similar to Jackie Robinson getting the opportunity to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers. The two situations were as far apart as anything we know. Jackie Robinson was a professional athlete at the top of his game and was better than most of the “All White Players” in Major League Baseball at that time. White Folk were “Afraid” to let Black Players come into the game because They knew the superior talent would take many jobs from the all white league. Racism and Hatred of Black People was the leading factor in not allowing Black Talent to play in professional sports on all levels. The Gay Issue is something completely different and deals with the “Beliefs” of folk as Christians and other organized religious groups.

So, I would like Sports Writers, who for the most part, don’t know anything about what we Black Folk went through as we faced the Racist and Hateful mob of white people during the Jim Crow Period all the way to today’s Racist Republicans and Tea Party Nuts. The Gay Issue has nothing to do with Civil Rights!!---------------------------------------------------------------

Wow - the Rascist Republicans and Tea Party nuts - you now equate the two as assaulting black freedoms !

Gay rights according to the Democrats you support is about equal rights and ending prejudges - or is that also wrong ?

Or is your problem your ego doesn't want a gay professional black football player to get what you consider undue attention - because he's gay ?

    Now who's discriminating ?
#Dems play musical chairs + patronage and nepotism = entitlement !

Does Tony Dungee ever do it doggie style with his wife? As long as we are going to go around poking our heads into people's bedroom, lets put it all on the table.

It is shameful that in the second decade of the 21st century a person's sexual orientation has either a negative or positive depiction by others.

Here's a hint for every one in the NFL - the next time any of you start to think about another person's sexual orientation, think instead of your mother and father having sex. That should cure your perversion.

You guys make good points and I agree with most of what you say, except I never considered that lifestyle a Civil Rights issue either. Anything with the word "style" linked to it is optional. Michael Sam's black ancestors took all the heat for him, if he had gay ancestors he probably wouldn't be here unless they were bisexual and had kids. Not that I want to see gays go through what we did, wouldn't wish that on anybody.

Tony Dungy's words were out of context with his own activities; prison ministries (for the last couple decades the number one producer of black gay men), and the re-development of Michael Vick. That he would consider Sam too much of a distraction to sign, while Vick is still being protested at Jets camp near Binghamton I believe, is hiding his true feelings. Sam is a talented player, the SEC is the best football conference outside the NFL, and he was picked Defensive Player of the Year. But Sam has it made now even if he gets cut he's set for life. The Hollyweird community will make sure he gets works somewhere, actor, talk show, sports show, something.

And that is equally true of anyone who is infertile or chooses not to have children.

So what's your point? That people who are infertile, homosexual, or choose not to have children are not worthy of equal rights because if their parents were homosexual, infertile, or chose not to have children they would not be here?

You need to re-think that comment.

Dungy was pretty clear. NFL coaches get paid millions of dollars to win, its hard to win and keep your job making those millions when your locker room is a media circus. Its the very same reason Tebow is still on the street, no one wants the media circus headache.

It was the player that decided to proclaim on twitter and every available social media site what goes on in his bedroom, not any NFL coach.

and besides..... he suxs (no pun intended) he only got picked up because he is gay, otherwise he would be sitting on someone practice squad right now or asking if you want fries with that shake.
People who wonder if the glass is half empty or full miss the point. The glass is refillable.
