Why are they betting against the Bills?

A local company started an advertising campaign in which they first state this is going to be the year the Bills win it all, then they state that if the Bills win the AFC championship that they will pay their customers all they spent on goods from the store.

So if the Bills win the AFC, the customers wins the bet and the store loses the bet.

And if the Bills lose the AFC championship or don't make it to the championship, the store wins the bet and the customers loses.

In essence, the customer is betting on the Bills and the store is betting against the Bills.

If the store really thought the Bills were going to win the AFC they would have done just the opposite, that is they would have offered to payback the customer for items purchased in the store if the Bills did not win the AFC.

Seems to me someone in the marketing department didn't think this one through on a public relations basis but did think it through on an economic basis...they concluded they would put their money on the most likely outcome.

Ya. Looks like someone either had the intern or the fresh out of college kid of the CEO do the marketing plan.

Now lets say Karma is on the bills side this year... or the spirit of Ralph helps them along.... Would the business legally be on the hook to return what was spent?
