Camillo's Sloan Market I tired of smelling rotting meat!

Well lets hope the Sloan board does something to stop the owner of Camillo's Sloan Market from doing whatever the hell he wants!

I've lived next to this store all my life, and never had a problem with the previous owners. Now that it is under new ownership, it is a living hell for the neighbors living nearby.

We had to put up with high volume of traffic including tractor trailers at all hours of the day, litter from inconsiderate slob customers that throw their garbage everywhere, car fumes, customers and employees turning their cars around our driveway while our daughter are playing outside, moron customers that instead of using their brakes, plow into the makeshift crap guardrail to stop their car, one of which went broke through and damaged MY fence.(this is the same fence I asked the ower to pay half for after one of his customers destroyed our chain link....would you believe he told us he couldnt afford it!)

Well he reached a new low.
He moved his dumpsters less than 10 feet from our daughters swingset!

The oder of rotting rancid meat and chicken carcasses baking in the hot sun is horrendous! Not to mention the bees that hovering around the dumpster...as soon as the kids went out to play, they were being attacked.

We have complained to village numerous times just as the other neighbors have. NOTHING HAPPENS! The ower does whatever the hell he wants to! Well tonight we went down and complainedr rather loudly to the "code enforcer".
Lets actually see if something changes.

You would think that this small business owner would try to be a good neighbor.....he is laughing at us all the way to the bank...

    Any creative suggestions????

PS please dont tell us to move.We were there LONG before Camillo ever took over.

First you need to build your case to win popular support.

Secondly can you take digital pictures of this dumpster and damage to your fence?

I think photo's of rotting fly covered meat would hit the spot to

There have been numerous written complaints and meeting with village officials in the past. Most of which are about the tractor trailer traffic and the wholesaleing he is doing out the back door which he will not admit to. Apparently he does not even have the proper business permits.

Up until now I have been pretty quiet. I have written letters to the board complaining about the liter, dumpsters ,and traffic. Recently, Camillo cryed to his lawyer who intern sent a letter to the village saying something along the lines that the village is picking on him. I have tons of pictures of dumpsters left open, garbage piled up around them. I have called the erie county health department who I guess came out and investigated........knowing how things operate around here, the guy probably left with free package of meat! I've heard he has an "in" with the county.
He can certainly afford to pay people off.

You would think with all the money they make, they would have the common decenccy try to be good neighbors.

He had these dumpsters about 20ft from our property before and the slightest breeze on a warm summer day sent the smell of decaying meat into our backyard, patio and into the open windows in the house. Summer nights are unbearable, having to keep all our windows closed. 80 degrees and no AC, and we are forced to keep our windows closed...This week he moved the dumpsters right up against our property and enclosed them in a cheap makeshift fence that the village apparently approved.

Aside from complaints to the village, who else can we complain to. I'm ready to take matters in my own hands and someohow make life uncomfortable for customers that don't respect our neighborhood.

Its at 494 Reiman ST in Sloan...

My next door neighbor also gets the oders from the dumpsters but we get the brunt of it. It all depends on which way the wind blows. We couldnt use our patio at all this year.
Neighbors on the other side of the store have other problems which are even worse. Tractor trailers are lined up on the side street for deliveries. They leave their trucks running...block residents driveways and won't move...and one neighbor had her carbon monoxide detector go off from the truck fumes. It is suppose to be a little mom and pop type store just as it has always been back when my parents owned the house. never a single complaint before. It is quite popular now and people from all over WNY come to it.....Its great that a small business owner is doing well in the area, but unfortunatley its at the neighbors expense. Property values around the store have dropped.
The people that live around the store have been there long before this other guy took over, many of whom are elderly and built there houses.....they should not have to put up with this.

Ive had my assesment dropped twice already..... I'll do it again! But it just costs the rest of the taxpayers more....
The real answer is for him to move...but he has a goldmine....at the end of the day he jumps in his luxury SUV and just drives away from all of our problems.....no conscience I guess...I suppose money will do that.

Camilla's owns the property and has what you call "property rights to do as it wants with it's property. Yet, all you people now posting suggestions to resolve this problem suggest going to the government to resolve this problem.

As it stands right now, you are looking to use what you regularly call "force" to get the owners of Camilla's to do what "you want"

This is a great case of the of business interests to maintain lowest possible costs, and the neighboring home owner. I for one being who I am, support the homeowner and would do everything legally possible to "force" Camilla to clean itself up.

What do you business supporters, DD, Batman, JO, leftWNY see as a libertarian solution to the problem without the use of government?

I think that's fair. Your ideas are in play. What do you do?

THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT AND KEEP CALLING UNTIL YOU GET THEM TO HEAR YOU !!!

    1. Take pictures of the threat on your daughters health.
    2. Take pictures of the Rats in the area.
    3. Make the calls to ECHD every hour until you see them on the property.
    4. Write letters to every political person you know of.
    5. Take pictures of the owner and tell him you're writing a stroy on Rat Controll for a local paper.
    6. File an endangerment suite against him as the owner who's endangering your daughter and families health.

I'm sure you will get him to notice you. Oh, call the action reporter too.

Action reporter is a good idea - Al Vaughters at channel 4 helped me out a few years ago - he moved mountains when nobody else would.
