Wrong, you're werent paying attention, because actually they DO have the bennies and such, and are aware that its golden handcuffs, they cant leave it. They hate that professional upward opportunity , and meaningful compensation, that is career choices, are so limited in this area, that there are so few large employers where someone can have a meaningful career. They do what they have to do for the sake of their family, not that they really want to be working for thr government. they jus trsee it as putting in time, "only 7 years until i can walk away". meanwhile, they know they should have or cold hve left the area to purse their actual career interests (i.e., pursuit of happiness) rather than get locked in to depending on a govt job. That's what I mean, and thats what they've said because we've talked about it from time to time.

my comments were more along the lines of conservative and repub peeps who have to take govt jobs even thoiugh they dont like the infrastructure around it, especially in the Bflo area. The politicos mentioned in the story is another aspect altogether though. As ive mentioned before , getting govt job in WNY is like hitting the lottery. just put the time in, and the lottery ticket pays off for life, monthly, an annuity, just like a NY Lottery ticket, except the govt payoff is NY tax free to boot. No need to go into that ditch with the thrad though....there WAS a good article about it in todays Bflo news opinion section about the overload of govt employees in NY. Good article...take a look

No. I have my doubts about "I hav eseveral freinds that HATE it, but they have the govt jobs, and pay the union dues because they have very little other choice in this area."

My friends who work for the government don't hate it, they especially don't hate the benefits and the retirement packages.

Futher clarification in order then: They hate that they had to go the govt route, and that there was/is a lack of viable opprtounities to pursue in the private sector. The longer the ywere in govt, and as kids came along, they could no longer even consider risking changing to do something that was more personally appealing careerwise. Okay, ? and knowing what the situaion is in Buffalo, and WNY, they encouraged their own kids to go to college outside of WNY area for better summer job opportunities and career paths.

But the above is more a topic for some other thread..this thread was/is more re: the local conserva politicos on the govt job train.

Isn't it wild though.. The conservative who want "smaller government" have a majority of the top party players holding jobs that rely on government's ability to tax and spend. Plus... they make a big issue about Mark's vote on same sex marriage yet Tim Kennedy is in the photo who voted yes... Plus voted to increase sales tax which doesn't sound conservative to me.

We have a lot of bull****ters running around in our local political parties in Erie County. At least with Lenny Lenihan you know what your dealing with. With the rest of the parties in Erie County you really don't know what you have. Well I do. Hypocrites. Even with the republican party you really don't know what your being dealt.

I feel bad for these conservatives who compromised their principals to take relatively good paying jobs with top shelf benefits. It must be impossible for them to live with themselves.

This is just another kick in the ass to remind me that all the political parties are basically the same. They espouse different philosophies, but they all take advantage of us the same way.

WNYres said something about the lesser of two evils. That's basically what it comes down to.

I wonder what we would see if this same analysis (Political Party senior leadership) were done for the other major parties in WNY? I know what I expect to see, but I'd like to see the actual analysis to see if my expectations match reality.

If someone had some time on their hands and wanted to compile a "party" overview it would be interesting.

Break it up between the top parties in Erie County.

    Democrats
    Republicans
    Conservatives
    IP
    Green

The take the officers of each party and see who works for us along with the committee people.

That is true. It is a joke on society. Mike Long and the state version of this joke is no better. They are scammers of the worst order.

I have been informed the photo used in the article is old. Touch misleading with Tim Kennedy being in the photo who is a non-conservative democrat. Would anyone know where Matthew Spina would of gotten an old photo to use versus something current?
