Cheaper even at the Batavia location. They were closing down before the others.

UP TO 50% off all items.

Which basically means nothing is on sale. FYE was always so overpriced to begin with, that even with 50% off, it's still too expensive.

Of course, that won't stop shoppers from buying up all the CDs and DVDs in the store. They can be had cheaper at Target/Walmart, but shoppers will pay more thinking they're getting a deal.

Wa who, I agree with Brandon (miracle of miracles eh Brandon?). I walked in that store once, seen the product, turned around, walked out and never went in again.

How convenient that they announce it on Christmas Day, so that everyone who got gift cards is now in a panic to spend them.

I was there Saturday afternoon - the line went about 2/3 of the way to the back of the store. CD's were only 20% off at that time.

I buy used in there. They would have buy 3 used, get 1 free. Since they were guarenteed, it was worth it. Batavia is 60% off all DVD's and Cd's now.

60% off what? It means absolutely nothing.

Example: My wife loves the TV series, Reba.

Season 1 of Reba: MSRP $29.98
    FYE: $23.99 (20% off)
    Amazon.com: $18.49 (over 35% off)
Batavia FYE: $11.99 (if it's even there)
Target: $7.50 (over 75% off) (season 1 and 2 are bundled for $14.99)

What type of bargain are you actually getting?

People who wonder if the glass is half empty or full miss the point. The glass is refillable.

I guess the "bargain" I got was 5 movies, all ones I wanted, for less than $16. I was able to take then home right then and there, watched some that night. I agree that some of their prices were higher than other retail, but I used to do my homework before I would go in.

You're a rare breed. A smart shopper who's educated on prices going to a 'going out of business sale'.

I've visited places like Media Play, Circuit City, and Linens and Things during the first weeks of their going out of business sales, and I never found one deal. Even on the last day that Circuit City was open, I had a hard time finding a deal.

How did you get 5 movies for $16? Great Deal!

I was in one once, and I think it was in Albany or Syracuse or someplace like that. As others have said, they're overpriced compared to other others.

Moreover, probably the biggest segment of the entertainment market -- younger people in their teens and twenties -- are totally into downloading their music/entertainment rather than buying CDs and DVDs. I read an article several months ago that the entire home entertainment market is shrinking because of that, and that chains like fye were most likely doomed.
