Well, you can look at other countries in the world with stricter gun control and per capita killing numbers that compare a hockey score to the NBA.

    Italy 2015

A man was kneeling in prayer before the statue of the revered Madonna, with the photograph of a loved one in hand, in the small chapel of St. Barnabas in Perugia (Italy), when he was attacked by five “immigrants.”

The first thing they did was rip the photo from his hands.

Next they unleashed their hatred against the image of the Virgin Mary. They broke the statue to pieces and then urinated on it.

Don Scarda, pastor of St. Barnabas, said the event was led by five “foreigners.” By the time police arrived at the chapel, the unidentified attackers had already fled.

The incident has caused a stir among locals. Some have lambasted Pope Francis who is accused of appeasing immigrants—mostly Muslims—to wild extremes. Earlier he had said that “Migrants, through their own humanity, cultural values, expand the sense of human brotherhood.”

Although the Diocese condemned the act of sacrilege against the Madonna statue, it also followed the Pope’s lead by absolving Islam of any responsibility for what happened.

The immigrants kicked pieces of the statue down the street.

Saying that the event was a dumb idea is not the same thing as defending the attackers. Stewart is correct, of course, that no matter what, violence is never OK. The attackers were shot dead, and nobody is complaining about that. But that's a separate issue. The event itself was a dumb idea, period. Even Stewart alluded to that. Christ in Urine is another example. It's legal and protected by the constitution... Still a dumb idea. Naming your town's sports team after a demeaning name for a minority... legal? you bet. Good idea? No. In no way does that mean that I'm defending anyone that responds with violence.

Another really dumb idea... Auto-play on embedded video. Legal? Sure. Good idea? No.

The average Muslim will just react with a grumble and move on with his life. The Muslim Terrorist reacts by showing up with a gun. Either way I don't see how the event results in anything beneficial except spreading and encouraging hatred all around.

Both the KKK and Hitler based their actions on their belief in Jesus Christ. By your reasoning, mocking them would also be mocking the other 99.9999% of Christians.

And if 99.9999% of muslims would not kill people who made fun of their religion, then the conference was 99.9999% not stupid.

The media knew of the conference long before it happened. Yet it only became "stupid" after the terrorists decided that US citizens should die for expressing their opinions about terrorists fecal matter.

Not at all. Mocking the KKK is mocking the KKK. Just like mocking terrorists is just mocking terrorists. A proper comparison would be attempting to mock the KKK by having a competition where people defecate on crucifixes of Jesus. Nobody resorts to mocking Christianity as a way of mocking the KKK because that wouldn't really make any sense. But that's exactly what this competition did. It mocked Islam as a way of mocking terrorists. They can do that as often as they like, but that doesn't make is an intelligent idea. All it does is spread hatred to a huge group of people that aren't even terrorists.

No they didn't mock islam - they mocked the idea that a cartoon of an imaginary supernatural being is sufficient reason to kill people. Just like mocking the KKK's use of a cross in their rallies. If only .00001% of muslinms believe that a cartoon drawing of their deity is suffiucient to kill, then they only mocked .0001% of muslims. If 99.9999% of muslins believe that it is OK to kill someone who draws cartoons of their deity, then F*** them.

What did Jon and his crew have to say about his employer mocking mormans, christians, jews, and christian scientists in south park? Did he call that "stupid" as well?

The only stupid people exposed by this incident are the ones who think it is justifiable to kill another person because they mock your religious belief.

If that is not a tenant of Islam, then the cartoon conference was not mocking Islam.

If that is a tenant of Islam then every american needs to be mocking it as much as possible to expose it. It would be stupid to ignore it. Not stupid to mock it.

They look like nothing more than editorial cartoons directed at the Islamic terrorists. I'll bet we had tons of similar cartoons about Nazi's during the 1930-s and 1940's. Does anyone seriously think that ISIS and similar Islamic terrorists are less evil than Nazis?

ISIS issues 'Fatwa' declaring Pamela Geller and her Supporters 'legitimate Targets'.
    "The New Era"

To our brothers and sisters fighting for the Sake of Allah, we make dua for you and ask Allah to guide your bullets, terrify your enemies, and establish you in the Land. As our noble brother in the Phillipines said in his bayah, "This is the Golden Era, everyone who believes... is running for Shaheed".

The attack by the Islamic State in America is only the beginning of our efforts to establish a wiliyah in the heart of our enemy. Our aim was the khanzeer Pamela Geller and to show her that we don't care what land she hides in or what sky shields her; we will send all our Lions to achieve her slaughter. This will heal the hearts of our brothers and disperse the ones behind her.

To those who protect her: this will be your only warning of housing this woman and her circus show. Everyone who houses her events, gives her a platform to spill her filth are legitimate targets. We have been watching closely who was present at this event and the shooter of our brothers. We knew that the target was protected. Our intention was to show how easy we give our lives for the Sake of Allah.
    "khanzeer" means pig.

Allied propaganda was key to defeating the nazis during world War two and undermining their fascist ideology. It is just as important to win the propaganda war as it is the actual battles. All of us, free americans, liberals, moderates, conservatives all stand to lose if we cave to Islamic terrorism. They are trying to intimidate us and make us afraid to call them out or exercise free speech.

sadly our govt has bought into the islamist threat, hook line and sinker...

Islam hates america for its freedoms? America enacts laws to limit said freedoms. The war against islam is lost until the people of america stand up, in one voice and say no.

Till then, the US Govt will continue to destroy freedoms and liberties in the 'name of security' and you liberals will eat it up...

Put a frog in a pot of cold water, and slowly heat the water, the frog, wont jump out, itll cook itself.
Thats America. The frog, IS america.

America, the bastion of freedom, is no longer free. dozens of countries rank higher than america, for freedom and liberties...

I swear, Americans are as STUPID and IGNORANT as the Germans during WWII
Willful ignorance is the downfall of every major empire in history.

I have no beef with muslims who think it is wrong for anyone to draw their religious icon...but any muslim that thinks they can kill another person over a drawing is fecal matter.
