Bush announced the opening of new drilling sites and oil plummeted over $100/bbl in 3 months.
The oil industry knows Oblathers all hat and no cattle.
Ad to that the weakening of the $ under Obowmao.
And that's why we're at the current prices.

And your zfacts site, pure libtard propaganda.

The other factor of course being a global meltdown of the economy, but that doesn't promote a non partisan argument, so in order to make this a political discussion I will have to blame the Republicans because every issue is required to be blamed on political parties with no middle ground for common sense. That being said Obama has allowed for increased oil production, but since that doesn't fit with the Fox News point of view, we just need to say the prices are high because thats the way Obama wants it and he makes all rules in todays society because that way he can take away our guns and freedoms and everything else that he wants to take away from the American people. Luckily there are a bunch of patriots at Fox News protecting us from him "Takinnaway mi gunz!".
Seriously idiots, is this what you think?

What I think, your reply is more of the liberal spin.

by not buying gas, you are actually hurting your own state and county govt more than you are hurting any oil company. Also, you are hurting NYS pensioners and future pensioners, because some of the LARGEST holdings of the NYS Pensions funds are in big oil companies. OF course, the pension fund managers want their investments to be profitable, so its people like yourself who are willingly and knowingly doing a disservice to your own state and cty govt, as well as pensioners.

the big picture is, the modern world requires oil to run smoothly. go cash in your IRA or the $$ under the matess and start your own company to find an oil substitute. THAT could be more productive than boycotting gas/oil products. You may as well also start boycotting paychecks, because $$ is a bad thing to, even though it helps to facilitate the economic transactions.

So, how do you get to work now then these days?. MAybe we can all help you find even more efficent ways to boycott oil based products rather than just saying no to gasoline.

The state, in its bad financial condition, NEEDS you to buy gasoline..so they can tax it. A healthy NY State is a happy New YOrk state isnt it?

How can you tell when a politician is lying?

    His lips are moving.

No matter what our current or former Presidents have said, oil is a limited natural resource. We need to develop alternative fuels while concurrently maximizing our oil potential here in the United States. As we saw with the BP disaster this can have devastating consequences for the environment. There is no easy solution, but compromises must be made and money needs to be invested in other formers of renewable energy.

I would seriously like to know why gas is so expensive in NYS when it's not as bad in other parts of the country. We're getting a raw deal from someone.

One of the main reasons for gasoline being so expensive in this state is the taxes NEW York State adds to the cost. Years ago the gas stations used to post at the pump the federal and state taxes added to the cost of one gallon of gas. I my guess is that the politicians don't want us to remember how they have been screwing the motoring public.

    The markets way back then?

Biggest oil price drop in 17 years

Crude falls $6.45 a barrel - 2nd largest price drop in dollar terms - as Fed chief indicates inflation and high fuel prices will cut into U.S. demand for oil.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — Oil prices plummeted by the second-largest margin on record Tuesday as investors feared a further decline in U.S. demand after hearing comments from Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.
