Yes, I have weighed the costs and benefits. I also work in the insurance business and know how to read a policy and can easily catch the legal buzz-words that delineate how and why I may be dropped from the coverage I would purchase. I'm not a health care expert, but I'm fluent in legalese. My money, as the system currently works, would be better spent if I just lit in on fire.

I think you raise excellent points which highlight some of the serious flaws in the bill that was passed tonight. Why not single-payer? Especially because the only American health care system that is not mocked by the rest of the developed world for being utterly stupid and non-sensible happens to be the VA, which is a large and relatively cost efficient single-payer socialist nightmare. The second best health care program in the country is the other socialist single-payer nightmare known as Medicare/Medicaid.

If our current system works so well, why hasn't any other western culture adopted it?
