Absolutely not. I love beating the Flyers like that. Not just the "Broad Street Bullies," but because of the jerk fans of Filthadelpia. Sure, I would have enjoyed that lopsided win if it came agains the Blue Jackets, but a blowout against the Flyers is that much sweeter. They're a non-divisional rival.

That game was an embarrassment for the Flyers.

Also, it seems the Sabres naysayers have been rather quiet now that the season started. Hmmmm. Didn't see that coming.

    Flyers shake up roster
    From News Wire Services
    10/19/2006

TAMPA, Fla. - A day after the second-worst road loss in their history, the Flyers on Wednesday waived veteran center Petr Nedved, who had been one of their better penalty killers, plus right winger Niko Dimitrakos and defenseman Nolan Baumgartner.
The 1-4-1 Flyers, buried in last place in the Atlantic Division, were humiliated, 9-1, in Buffalo on Tuesday.

"I thought we, well, I can't even describe what I'm thinking," Flyers General Manager Bob Clarke said, adding that something had been missing from the team since training camp.

He said that although "our emotions as a team were good" in two games against the New York Rangers, "our competitive emotion is just not consistent."

"This is something we have to get to the bottom of and find what the problem is," Clarke said.

Clarke changed a third of his roster over the summer to add goals and get quicker on defense. Neither has occurred. The team has just 12 goals in six games.

"You have to figure out why what happened, happened," Clarke said. "I want to know why we can't even compete with Buffalo, which is the best team in the league right now. How come when we play a great team like Buffalo, instead of it bringing out our best, it brings out our worst?"

Darn right. They can wallow in misery in Phily for all I care. Keep overhauling the roster, Hitch & Clarke.

OK, OK, was that really the Flyers the other night or did the Bills dress up like them for halloween? Hard to believe a NHL team could and did look that bad. Could have sworn Mike Gandy was in net for the Flyers!

    And on to #10

After tonite's 4-1 win at Montreal, we will tie the NHL record Thursday nite against the Isles and then break it Saturday against Atlanta. Drury is tied for the league lead in goals, Maxie won the NHL player of the week, and Thomas Vanek has found himself and his game ! Amazing !

It really takes the sting out of the Bills crappy season.
