    get your facts straight

I don't know where you're getting your information from Dennis, but this board has done nothing BUT hire friends and family. Mostly friends, but not the BEST candidate.

So why are city people protesting so much then???? Find that hard to believe.I do know for a fact that they hired outsiders and everyone goes after certain members for doing so. One certain board member wants his wife to have a full time job and constantly pushes for it. The current majority refused to so he switched sides. So maybe my info isn't 100 percent correct but it is close to it.This is supposed to be about education and children not jobs.A lot of the same people who are in city government have people with jobs in the schools it is one vicious circle.Look and see how many people that are running have a hidden agenda. They are either trying to get someone a job or trying to protect someones job. I am just stating facts here.

    outsiders

What I heard was the majority wanted the board memnber to go along with them and offered a carrot. He refused because they not doing the RIGHT THING, so now they're giving him the stick. This MAJORITY did a great job of hiring a superintentant and business manager (LOL). Two outsiders that know nothing about Lackawanna, collected a check and left. Did they leave the district better than they found it? Why do these board members think they are experts in interviewing and hiring. They aren't trained or experienced. They handed out hundreds of thousands of tax dollars, then point the finger at somone else.

The problem with our schools is our administrators hands are being tied by the board members. Also Boces is just sending us recycled Administrators from other parts of the state to pade their pensions. Why are we always getting someone who is retired. We need administrators with the latest training in programs that can get our district moving forward. Boces keeps sending us garbage.

Outsiders are what Lackawanna needs to right the ship. Someone with no "connections". The 2 outsiders you are talking about that left probably got sick of Lackawanna politics and all the crap that went along with it. They weren't here long enough to make a difference. This what happens when you are not a member of the club and no one will give you a chance and just hammer you constantly. In your opinion who here in Lackawanna is qualified to be a superintendent in this day and age? We had a very qualified resident run out of office by one of the current board members and his other helpers several years ago because she wouldn't "play ball". This stuff is all about jobs. One current member told me "if we fire one administrator we can create 2 or 3 jobs."So who runs the schools? Secrataries and teachers??? No wonder our district ranks so low and our budget is higher than a lot of districts of comparable size.We need someone that has expierence but has no connections to current adminstration and is able to handle Lackawanna politics. Good luck finding him or her.We need to stop interfering and let them work for our children not for political reasons.

Government schools were around on a national basis for about 50-75 years before critics started to notice that they sucked. That was 50 years ago.

For the last 50 years, all efforts at reform have failed.

Time to end the experiment in allowing bureaucrats to "educate" your kids.

By the way what is the "right thing"? Finding your wife a better job in my book isn't the right thing. Neither is firing administrators to create or save jobs that never should have been created in the first place.

    you're right milkman

Nail on the head milkman....We're getting recycled administrators. Why do they refuse to give someone new a chance? What do we have to lose? Lack of experience also translates into new ideas and much smaller contracts. An inexperienced superintendant would be excited to prove what they can do and less concerned about; How much does it pay?

Our district is screwed up and you want an inexpierenced superintendent probably so he/she can be controlled by the few who messed it up to begin with. Sounds like were going to have the same problems maybe even worse. Stop thinking about "saving" money to create more jobs and start thinking about spending some money to get the best qualified person to educate our kids.Sounds like you have the Buffalo Bills school of management theory and they have proven cutting costs in critical areas and hiring from within ended up killing a once proud franchise. Please we need some outside the box thinkers here not Lackawanna inside the box thinking that fails year after year.We do not have to break the bank to get a expierenced qualified person in here. But you do get what you pay for.

Why do expect a bureaucracy to do anything but serve its own interests?
