It was a stormy, arctic night this winter, in Clarence, when a kind gentleman arrived home and discovered something horrifying on his front step. A frail, shivering kitten, who had apparently struggled his way to his front door, where he laid without an ounce of energy left in his poor little body. The man immediately brought him inside and called Speaking Out For Animals, a local rescue group, to take him. Since it was a Sunday night and no vets were open they rushed to the Emergency Vet Clinic. He was severly dehydrated, could not walk or eat and was seemingly suffering from neurological problems, perhaps from being hit by a car. Upon examination, they saw little hope of this baby making it through the night and suggested he be put to sleep. How could they do that to this helpless kitten, who had fought this hard to survive? He was a fighter, and they were not about to give up on him! They gave the vet the OK to do what they needed to and see if he could make if through the night... and $800 later, he did! He wasn't out of the woods yet. They transferred him to their local vet where more tests and treatments were done. After another hefty vet bill, it was uncovered that he had a serious virus, which was the cause for his inabliity to walk or eat. They eventually cleared him to go "home", leaving behind of a long trail of vet bills... worth every penny! Today, because of lots of TLC and care from their rehabilitator the kitten, who they now call Holiday, is healthy, happy and enjoying his time being pampered, untill he can find a permanent adoptive home of his own!
This story is just one of many heartbreaking stories of kittens and cats let to survive on there own in the cold of winter, for many help comes to late. Thankfully we have rescues like Speaking Out For Animals, who can come in and provide care for these cats. However, they cannot do this without the communities continued donations. As you can see, a cat like Holiday can leave a large dent in a rescues funds. They are asking for your help, by making a donation of any amount to help them continue to provide the best care for as many animals as possible. Speaking Out For Animals also has a very exciting goal that they need your help with! They plan on opening a much needed rescue haven for animals right in Clarence! People would be shocked to discover how many homeless animals there are in Clarence alone. As a community we need to come together, businesses and the people, to provide a safe haven for our furry friends. Please make a donation and spread the words to others. Together we can make it happen!
