    Canalside wasn't bad yesterday

Canalside was not bad last night.

Skyway is big. I don't know if it makes a difference if it's there or not. I don't see how it blocks access to the water front seeing people made it there.

I don't get why people want the grain mills saved. I like history but to me they don't ring "history".

Agree on the aesthetics of the mills. However, demoing them is very expensive.

The light art on that one at night is pretty fantastic though.

We keep that one for visual effects, and transform the others. Here's an idea from Oslo for housing...

Why did canalside give the concert away to an out of state company instead of leaving it with the people who started it all?

At some point, I hope, the economics change and the value of the waterfront land is worth more than the demo cost. I honestly think it's a matter of time.

Politics and pay-to-play I am sure.

I hope you're right. This is where some proponents of smaller govt. are exactly right. I know we have to keep things relatively safe, but demo costs are too high because of EPA regs and asbestos in particular. The present demo cost is nearly $20K for an abandoned house. $20K? That's ridiculous.

I think the Skyway only allows it to be open space, versus having shops or other buildings being built where it passes overhead and where the abutments are.
