More than 6 police cars, lots of crime scene tape, two ambulances, at about 8 pm. Police still there when I came back that way at 9:30 pm.
I listen to the archive of the fire dispatch - an ambulance call was for a gunshot wound on wildly about 7:30 pm. The police dispatch was offline most of yesterday so there is no archive on broadcastify.
Could it be connected to this shooting? Hoerner Ave is right near Wildy...
Woman shot while sitting in parked car in Cheektowaga
By Aaron Besecker
A 36-year-old woman is expected to survive after she was shot Wednesday night in Cheektowaga, just beyond the city line, according to Cheektowaga police.
The woman and a 23-year-old man were sitting in a car in front of 145 Hoerner Ave. when two people walked up and fired several shots just before 7:30 p.m., Assistant Chief James Speyer said in an email.
The woman was shot several times, but the man was not hit. The woman was taken to Erie County Medical Center, Speyer said.
Police did not release their names.
An investigation is continuing.

Yup - that is probably it. Second shooting in the neighborhood in just the past 8 months. http://wivb.com/2016/01/11/police-se...after-assault/
also, I wonder if it was the police or the reporter who added the "just beyond the city line" description. Yes, 145 Hoerner Ave is close to the city line, but it is just as close to the Cheektowaga Community Center and Town Park, and Villa Maria College sits between Hoerner Ave and the City line. Is someone hoping this incident will be viewed as a city shooting instead of what it was - a shooting in what was once the heart of Cheektowaga?
Amherst "interests" used to do that with Allenhurst crime, but I've think they have lately just adopted it as Amherst crime.
