    New Sabres Jerseys ...

I didn't want to hijack a thread with this.
I went to HSBC this morning to watch them practice. I like the new uniform except for the yellow bison on the front. It looks like a slug. Especially on the white jerseys.
They played very well. Even my girls were impressed. Of course, they're at an age where they're seeing whose "hot or not" kids!

    Still is

just a slug, an orange slug. Who says a logo will not effect how one plays the game. Well, if you were waring a doggie do do as your logo I am sure you would play less hard, and even shy awqay a bit each time you played your game on ice.

The same is for the Sabres new slug logo. I'm sure a few player don't like it and will play less harder during the up coming season, we'll have to see just woh they might be.

A slug, is a slug no matter how you prepare it; its still a slug!

    Question Color Matters

What?!!?!!?!! The Sabres are moving to New Jersey?!!?!?!!?!?

I knew Golisano was full of.....

Oh, I see...you mean their new uniforms. Strangely enough, Riven37 makes a valid point.

Consider the TampaBay Bucaneers. They played in a fruity bright orange from 1976 with very little success..

Then they switched to red and to a more intimidating skull and swords and became competitive.
    Coincidental?

I've gotten kinda used to the slug, but I will never get over one thing... one horn is yellow and one is white!!!

I was at HSBC also and I like the new logo as it looks on the blue jersey. On the white, it looks too plain. The jersey looks "empty."

I agree though, that the scrimmage was impressive. Looking forward to spending another season at HSBC...

    Hum

I watched the new last night and seen a few of those scores the "Sabre Slugs" were able to capitalize on, and I do admit, they seem sharp. However, that was just a few shots by the newsroom lets give them at least 3 months to see how sharp they will be then.

Also, lets not just pick on the Sbare Slugs, other teams had their old colors changed as well as, there logos like Tapma Bay. There sporting a new white jeresy. It must be year for logo change to boot there sales, like TV, changing time slots to boot up there numbers.

I believe its a cash grab schemed up by Quinn - Sabres went on a roll last year - old Sabres fans dug out their old jerseys, etc and jumped on the bandwagon...he's prob thinking - as the team gains momentum in 06/07, introduce a NEW logo/jersey and capitalize on all the NEW fans

    cha-ching

(is prob what they all said while sittin around the boardroom)

Thumbs up okay, time for some good posts instead of just annoying ones

They try to generate new sales and interest. That's good. This organization is active and dynamic. Golisano came in and made a better save than Hasek ever did by preventing your from leaving town. He put up the bulk of the finance.
So, just go out and get a slug shirt and cheer . You're interest will be added insurance to the present and future success of the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League.

I bet if they just used the old logos it would of been a pick me up for the community. I'm sure if new jackets/propaganda were introduced with the old logo original logo people would buy that stuff up. Tradition. That's also why I believe they should of knocked down the old aud and rebuilt a cooler new aud. NOT an HSBC or what ever... A new aud. Thats where the memories were...and should of continued.. I supposed some connected politician probally had land where the new arena went up.

That is sentimental, but flawed. The memories, as you say, are not in the old auditorium, but rather in the fans. It is unnecessary to, say, for example to move out of your old house for sentimental reasons. The memories are not in your house. They are in you. You don't need to hang on to old junk.
Personally, I like the old logo from the 70's and 80's, except for one thing: The circle. They should just put the old Buffalo behind the swords/sabres and that's it. Don't put it inside of a circle. I always felt it confined them.

That is my point.... They should of built a new Arena on the spot of the old aud.

Anyone know why the didn't do that in the first place? What were they thinking they were going to do with the old aud in the first place?

They could not have knocked down the Aud first because they would have had nowhere to play while the arena was being built.

As for the logos, I understand ownership wanted to put their own look on the franchise. That's understandable./

There will be a SpeakUpWNY regular season NHL hockey contest this year.
Can you come up with a prize by April, WNYR?
