Term limits go into effect for 2 councilmen

Council members discuss accomplishments, term limits

The Town Board terms of Deputy Supervisor Guy Marlette and Council Member Mark Manna will expire at the end of the year, and after eight years on the board, both must step down.
Marlette and Manna, who are completing their second consecutive terms, are the first two Town Board members to be affected by Amherst’s term limit legislation.

In the town, council members, as well as highway superintendents, are limited to serving no more than two consecutive four-year terms.

Wonder why there is no term limits for the town supervisor position?

There are term limits for the town supervisor as well. Weinstein cannot run again for supervisor in two years when the position is up for election.

Thanks for clearing that up. The Bee only mentioned the councilmen and the highway superintendent.

Roll them out - get new candidates and ones who don't have the entitlement needs.

Look, new people actually still have ideals, ethics, and a vision for reform. They don't worry about tax funded retirement credits - tax funded Cadillac healthcare - hell most new people don't even know about that stuff !

Believe it or not - just because some one runs for office, it doesn't mean the Party owns them yet ! It doesn't mean they will say or do anything to stay in office long enough to retire and collect tax funded life time benefits !

Most Committees are built on their ability to control hiring and patronage. If officials don't have the blind obedience to the committee - they might say no ! The real test will be if voters stand behind them when the committee tries to punish them for standing up.

Unlike Lancaster where the voters saw reform and voted on Party Created personal perceptions. They turned on and abandoned Supervisor Fudoli . When the controlling members used tax funded contracts to buy votes.

The residents should have been outraged by these tactics and came out in mass. Instead the tax funded players dominated the polls - because they wanted more !

Give term limits a chance !
#Dems play musical chairs + patronage and nepotism = entitlement !
