My point about using drones is that while a drone carrying the right equipment can identify a "person", it can't identify if that person is the one being sought. It cannot order that person to stop and identify himself. It certainly cannot shoot that person without warning (physically it could but not legally). While the Adirondaks are sparsely populated, they aren't uninhabitated, and this time of year, there are even more people in the woods. Then, with all the LEOs searching the area, there were even more people out in the woods. A drone would be too likely to pick up a wrong "target" for them to be effective in this search.
