    Buffalo versus Baltimore

Sergio Rodriguez had this on his facebook page.

    He asked this question

Do you notice any similarities between Buffalo and Baltimore?

If you look at the items mentioned in the cartoon who can you point fingers at?

    First, The good jobs disappeared...

What would have been the major cause for that?

Then the middle class fled to the suburbs...

I'm assuming crime/schools weren't that bad when that started to happen. What basically caused people to move? They just wanted yards? Newer housing stock?

    Public Schools fail....

Makeup of the kids going to school? Teacher slowly get worse over time? Influx of refugees/illegal immigrants causing language issues in the class room?

    More jobs shipped overseas.....

Was there anything Buffalo/Baltimore could do to prevent that?

Police crack down to keep lid on the many disenfranchised..

    Does ever happen in Buffalo?

    City infrastructure crumbles...

I think that happens in a lot of places because the controlling political parties do not prioritize how many should be spent.

I discussed the riots with a current officer in a WNY police department who interviewed for a position with the Baltimore police department before he was hired for his current job. He was appalled by the attitudes of the Baltimore police he met and how they treated people in general but especially poor people, most of whom tend to be black in Baltimore, who were suspected of crimes. IHO, the rioters might have seen police actions as racist since the trigger was the death of a black man but brutality against persons in custody had little to do with race and everything to do with police attitudes.
