Cuomo bans non-essential state travel to Indiana

ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB) – Governor Andrew Cuomo is banning non-essential state travel to Indiana.

There is a criticized new law in Indiana, that critics fear could permit discrimination against gays and lesbians.
“Today, I direct all agencies, departments, boards and commissions to immediately review all requests for state funded or state sponsored travel to the State of Indiana and to bar any such publicly funded travel that is not essential to the enforcement of state law or public health and safety. The ban on publicly funded travel shall take effect immediately,” the governor said in a statement.
“New York State has been, and will continue to be, a leader in ensuring that all LGBT persons enjoy full and equal civil rights. With this action, we stand by our LBGT family members, friends and colleagues to ensure that their rights are respected.”

Is this for real or is it an April Fools joke a day early?

    That'll teach 'em...

Stupid unnecessary law, IMO. Stupid unnecessary reaction to stupid law.

I think too many people on both sides of this debate believe it allows people to refuse service to all gays, all the time. The sad part is one side wants it to be true, and the other side needs it to be true. One side feels victimized as usual, and one side needs to tell people they're being victimized.

Enough identity politics and stupid single issue BS. They jingle the keys as they rob us blind.

Cuomo needs to focus on items that are causing 1000's to leave NYS.

I was just thinking. But how much "State" business requires our employees to travel to Indiana in the first place?

I am still curious why any of our state employees would need to travel to Indiana in the first place.. I would like to see a FOIL request of all travel of NYS Employees to Indiana for the last 12 months. How much travel has actually happened? How much money do we spend on state employee travel to Indiana?

If we find there was basically no state employee travel for state business we can easily ask why is Andrew Cuomo wasting our time on this.

Could someone scribble up an official question for me regarding this? Something that sounds official like?

I'd like to email Andrew and ask how much state travel did we have to Indiana for state employees. If we find that there is next to no state employee travel to Indiana why are you wasting our time on this.

    Be nice.

    Be factual.

Anyone who makes decisions that effect us property/business owners need to be called to the table when are time is wasted or our money is spent.

Start at the bottom where the support starts. Our local town boards. You want to associate with the group that promote this nonsense expect to be removed from office. With the excellent job this group has done for NYS each board member should have no difficulty finding work.
