Legislature expected to name Anderson to Water Authority board

The Erie County Legislature is expected Thursday afternoon to approve former Amherst Highway Superintendent Robert N. Anderson’s appointment to the Water Authority Board of Commissioners.
After gaining control of the Legislature last year, Republican-aligned members are getting their first crack at controlling two of the three seats on the Water Authority board for the first time since the early 1990s. The Water Authority board controls hiring at the authority, which has long been viewed as a haven for political patronage.

If approved, Anderson would take over the seat occupied by board Chairman Francis G. Warthling, a Democrat whose current term on the three-member board expires next month. Anderson would serve a three-year term alongside board Vice Chairman Earl L. Jann Jr., a Republican from Marilla, and Treasurer Jerome D. Schad, an Amherst Democrat. The position pays $22,500 a year.

Anderson, a three-term highway superintendent with the Town of Amherst whose career with the department spanned more than 35 years, retired last year. He was one of five candidates seeking appointment to the Water Authority board and one of four interviewed last week for the post by members of the Legislature’s Energy and Environment Committee.
    --------------------------------------------End article quote.

When the news described a Democrat being hired at the Water Authority - its more like Mr.XDem Boss gets a new job.

They even play down the fact when a Lancaster XDem Committee Controller & XParks boss lies, gets fired, then rehired - they say he was simply rehired for the position.

But now we have a obvious double dipping retired (as in already collecting a tax funded pension) Highway Boss who is Republican - the story twists more toward straight out "Patronage" - no bias reporting here folks.

Lets face it - we have seen and ignored these tax funded "Party Cookies" for years and years. Taxpayers have no say - Party Boss's love these "Party Cookies" - its what feeds their Party's and lines their Party Campaign and Committee funds.

So what's new - tax payers will still vote Party Lines - our taxes will increase - our cost of services will increase.

Until tax payers out number Party Line Tax Funded players at the polls, the game continues.

How much more can you afford ?
#Dems play musical chairs + patronage and nepotism = entitlement !

The guy has 35 years in public works experience, everything from equipment operation to running the best highway dept in the county. But I agree, they should've hired some rumdum whose principle qualification is total lack of experience. That would make eminently more sense.
