    Giambra - Spano Hand Washing

There's a story going around that Joel Giambra's friend, Joseph Spano (of Buffalo Office Interiors), has knowingly overcharged Erie County by $500,000. If this is true, this guy needs to be strung up and sent up the river. As for Giambra, if the rumor is true, there aren't words harsh enough for him.

I heard a rumor that Giambra was on the grassy knoll the day JFK was killed. It's possible, but since i DON'T HAVE ANY DETAILS about the rumor, I'm not inclined to beleive it yet..

How bout some DETAILS on your currently baseless allegation?
Data is not the plural of Anecdote.

I don't know why we have issues or rumors. I dont like rumors, they are just a waste of time. But it seems in buffalo a lot of rumors hold some truth.

We need facts. We are united states citizen and we have something called a FOI. Freedom of information.

Can't we get a few volunteers to file a FOI requesting all furniture purchases from said business? I know a few people that would help direct them to get the ball rolling. We'll then match up model numbers and compare to other people selling the same items.

If there was another furniture line that was of same quality and we spent more just because Giambra knew someone, well thats bad business.

If we find the same exact furniture in the internet priced at the time $500,000 less or so, well that's bad business too.

How long would someone practicing purchasing like that at walmarts last? Not long.

Now how do we know this is Giambra's friend? Or is it just a business aquantance? Remember rumors turn into exagration a lot.

Instead of people spreading rumors lets get the facts. THe more facts we get the less BS they can spread.

I'm not Giambra and I'm not Spano, so you're right I don't know these things for a fact. Only those two people will ever know the absolute truth. On the other hand it is documented that Spano is/was Giambra's campaign fundraising guy. I'd find it a pretty long leap to think that the two men are less than friends. I'd also find it a pretty long leap to think that GIambra wasn't aware of the assignment of business to BOI. And he'd be a fool to not have confirmned that everything was above board before completing the deal.

IMO, Giambra was a fool for letting BOI do the work in the first place. If only for the APPEARANCE of favoritism. It suggests poor judgement (or an 'I'm above it all' attitude).

If Spano gave the best deal, then it would be in his (and JG's) best interest to simply call a press conference and document it. This isn't new news... he's had plenty of time. It's not unreasonable to speculate that he's not defending himself because the doesn't have the material to do so. Or, maybe, he just doesn't care.

I can, in fact, tell you that he has lost my business because I ain't gonna deal with somone involved in a scandal. It is just too risky.

We don't know if it's a scandal just yet. SO lets not spread rumors there's a scandal.

    scan·dal ( P ) Pronunciation Key (skndl) n.

1.) A publicized incident that brings about disgrace or offends the moral sensibilities of society.

2.) A person, thing, or circumstance that causes or ought to cause disgrace or outrage.

3.) Damage to reputation or character caused by public disclosure of immoral or grossly improper behavior; disgrace.

4.) Talk that is damaging to one's character; malicious gossip.

Seems to me that the current news story(ies) and Naples investigation fits the definition of scandal rather well. So I think calling a scandal a scandal is absolutely proper... not rumor as you suggest.

If you are looking for everything to be triple verified and beyond any chance of error whatsoever, you are never gonna find it in politics. There's a little thing called faith and confidence in reported events that must be considered. And, as I stated, don't underestimate history and the lack of public defense from Spano.

I was just being nice on the scandal thing. Some posters sometimes jump off the deepend without verifying at least once the facts.

When was the last time a scandal hurt a western New York politician. If the news likes him it is quickley removed from the headlines. Even if it's not people around here feel that's how the system works and re-elect the guy any way. It has been going on so long we are desensitized to it.
