Your logic is arse backward - if the County didn't plow half these people bitching would be stuck in their homes till spring. Loose the County services and your isolated - these little Town/Village patronage pools aren't getting the job done - merge services and everyone gets plowed.

But nobody wants to loose their local tax funded voter groups/employees/Party Players.

4248, your post is so comically stupid that it boggles the mind. The whole thread is about how the county wasn't plowing its own roads. It was contracting with the locals to do it for them and then Markie tried to hose the town of Boston for doing the County's work. God almighty!

No Mr.Grump - no one said the County wasn't plowing roads - the debate was about money - tax money.

Some don't feel the County should pay Towns or Towns should pay the County.

This is a long standing practice - there's always a dispute who is or isn't getting the better deal.

Now, if you had your way - right now these little Towns would be crying for the national guard to bail them out. Your stuck on your getting rid of County Government instead of consolidating services - your way each Town/Village would have to expand their road services departments - it would be more costly to local tax payers.

You'd just be increasing each locations over head to buy operate, maintain and store seasonal use vehicles and a whole new layer of patronage players.

But Mr. Gump is just stuck on trying to pretend he actually has a point. He cant even consider the benefits of someone else's position even if its reasonable. That's OK - because in the end he - nor I have a actual say in how our tax dollars are wasted.

I'd be willing to bet right now those who complained about the County plow guys are enjoying watching them cruise up and down their roads !

4248, I'll try one more time in the hope against hope that you can comprehend. The county wasn't plowing its own roads; it was paying the town of Boston to plow county roads that are the responsibility of the county. Please don't continue to insist that the county was plowing the roads and that Boston was somehow unable to plow its roads. If anything it was the county that was unable to plow its roads and had to farm the work out. And it was Markie, not the supervisor of Boston, who was seen on the telly, assuring us that he had called the governor begging for the National Guard. Pity that the Guard has to be sent here to do Markie's job.

Well, now we know the answer. Markie either can't or won't plow his own roads. Even though Markie stated repeatedly that the county would take over the plowing of the county roads in Boston, when it snowed heavily , either he couldn't do it or wouldn't do it. While Markie was taking every opportunity to get his mug on every tv station around, rather than play politics, the Boston supervisor put public necessity first and
had town crews plow the county roads. The difference between a leader and an opportunist. Let's save ourselves millions and eliminate county government.

The Governor has called for help all the way to Washington. Is he to blame - he is the ultimate leader in all this - isn't he ?

No one Village, Town , City or County could handle this storm. No one supervisor - county exec or elected official can just airlift plows from one location to another.

All the finger pointing is just useless energy - everyone out there is doing all they can - that's all they can do.

Instead of just blaming Politicians - because we all know its easy to do - get out and help !

I was in Clarence last night helping people in a trailer park - going back within the hour. The Park has mainly senior citizens in it. We go door to door and atleast touch base with them.

Call that lady down the street - take a shovel - walk across the road and shake your neighbors hand - maybe you too could do some good.

If Government is your only answer - your part of what keeps the same people in office.

Change starts in your own doings.

    CULATER - gone shoveling !

4248, you've been busy helping your neighbors and good for you for doing it. Apparently, you haven't caught up with the Snooze today & the lengthy article about Lancaster and how it received no aid from the county or state until the end of the storm. Of course, the town's request that the county at least plow it's own roads fell on deaf ears. Meanwhile, Andy & his trained seal, Markie, were on every tv station from Hell to Harlem talking about what a wonderful job they were doing. Let's save taxpayer millions and get rid of county government.

Who would administer the welfare programs? Have the federal government take that all over? Let them pay all the salaries and so forth?

Welfare could be run out of Albany just as easily as it is from here. Of course there would be no place for the recipients to hang out for hours and those offices are a firm of incumbency program for Dems who rely on a huge welfare vote to stay in office.

    Thumbs down

Still waiting for a resolution to this, seems that this has turned into a political game. The Town blames the County and the County blames the Town. What ever happened to doing what's best for the public?

The supervisor of the town of Boston did what was best during the storm. He had town crews plow county roads because trained seal, Markie, was too busy getting his mug on tv to have the county undertake its duty to plow county roads. Let's save taxpayer millions and eliminate county government.
