    Imported beer my (***!)

OK, this may be petty to most people, but I am sick and tired of being bamboozled. When I buy a six pack of Guinness, I expect it to come from Ireland, and NOT from Canada (which can happen if you are not careful). And today I bought a 6 pack of Kirin beer because I hadn't had the Japanese beer in awhile and was in the mood for a lighter consistency, and what do I find when I examine the fine print on the side of the bottle? Brewed in Los Angeles by Anheuser Busch!!!! Good God, is anything the Real McCoy anymore?

Ahh, sweet Guinness....my favorite beer when I don't want to get buzzed.

Contract brewing...just remember, if they didn't do it, you'd be drinking worse quality.

Ever try bottled Guinness, circa 1985? I spent 22 days in the UK getting tanked with RAF pilots in the officer's mess....return home, and then I found and purchased bottled Guinness. Tasted like carbonated liquid smoke. Absolute garbage. Be thankful the "new" stuff is contract brewed.

Truly imported beer is pasteurized. No dice. I prefer my beer live. That's why I stick to homebrew and Flying Bison.

BTW, the water (minerals, etc) is the reason you cannot get "authentic" Guinness (or anything else for that matter) except by the original brewery.

Yeah, you are right, I was just ticked off about it. When I am drinking a brew, I want more than glorified Clydesdale p***water. I want it from the brewer or under some regimented guidelines from the brewer. Fosters, for instance. Back in the day when I started drinking it, it was a product of Australia. I stll drink it, even though its from Canada, and I still like it...... But, when I buy it now, I know that it is not from Australia.

Homebrewing----yeah, back in the day I was going to do home brewing....I was also going to get a "kegerator" and have the good stuff always on tap....Time passes, kids come along and dreams become distant memories of what could have been ...... Now I either go to Sterling Place on Hertel, which has a nice assortment on tap, or occassionally pick up some good stuff to drink at home.......

When I toured the brewery in Dublin I was told that that was the only place they made it.
