Question Police still searching for men in armed "Police stand off"

Today in Buffalo - 15 +/- armored swat members with a armored military vehicle stormed a house.

This after flooding it with tear gas - they claimed to have had a report of a "Possible man with a gun" in the house.

The house was vacant - maybe they should have checked it out first.

Later : The TV News reported "The Police are still trying to locate those involved in the armed "stand off" with police.

There was nodody home - "Stand off" ?

How could there be a "Armed Stand off" - there was no body there - there was no "armed" people in that house - yet the news reports a armed stand off.

One would think two Cops could have - you know - maybe knocked on the door first ! Maybe track down the "tipster" and or neighbors and asked who saw what !

This is the new culture - roll in with outrageous weapons and armored vehicles - hype up and stress out a group of officers and scare the sheets out of the whole neighborhood - just to show what ? ? ? ?

If you knew there was no one there (which you seem to since it seems so obvious to you) why not just head off the police and save everyone a lot of trouble?

From the lazy man journalists over at WIVB

SWAT team members shot a tear gas canister through a lower window and then entered the house, finding no one inside. Police issued pictures of Joseph Anderson, 30, of the same Riverside address, and Melvin Hill, 31, who has multiple addresses. They say they may be in possession of a silver handgun.

Later Sunday, Buffalo detectives entered the house with a search warrant and found an undisclosed amount of crack cocaine.
So they entered a vacant home without a warrant? ! Cops should be backed into a corner on this one. There was no evidence of a crime in progress or threat to life or property. Just because they are crack heads and thugs doesn't mean we throw away the Constitution. Cowboy Derenda... what's going on?

Grump - in case you didn't keep up with this - they found the drugs on the "second entry" -

If there still "Looking for those involved in the armed stand off" - just go to head quarters !

To be perfectly honest and aboveboard, I didn't follow this story at all. What I said was that your post made it sound obvious that there was no one there when the cops first showed up and that they somehow should've known it. Since it seemed do obvious to you I thought perhaps you could've headed them off and saved everyone a lot of fuss and muss.
