Mexico protests Texas National Guard troops on US border

Mexico City (AFP) - Mexico's foreign ministry late Friday protested Texas Governor Rick Perry's deployment of National Guard troops to the southern US border to halt the surge of child migrants.

Mexico "reiterates, in a firm and categorical way, its rejection of this measure," read a statement from the foreign ministry.

"No circumstance at all or change in border security exists that justifies this measure taken by the state."

The troop deployment "does not contribute in any way to solving the immigration problem," and is inconsistent with US-Mexico talks aimed at "building a modern, prosperous and safe border," the statement read.

On Thursday Perry deployed some 1,000 National Guard troops to the border with Mexico.

National Guard troops are soldiers under the authority of the state governor. They cannot detain undocumented migrants, which is a federal responsibility, but they can take over some duties that allows more US Border Patrol agents to monitor the borderline.

This from the Mexican government that sends Mexican army choppers into the US and fires on US agents? They can go to hell.

Because those illegal aliens, aka terrorists are now 'refugees' and have certain protections under international law

How does this change anything then? The national guard can't do anything regarding the aliens. So they "free up" patrol agents to monitor the border... and then when those agents find adolescent aliens from Guatemala they still have to follow the law and process them and send them on a bus to Montana (or wherever). Soooo, how does this do anything to fix the problem? Sounds more like he's just wasting money for political gain.

    Hilarious....modern, prosperous, safe?

Furthermore go in to Mexico to see that there are local and federal LE around with machine guns everywhere.
The sad thing is that our government does not have the ability or desire to fulfill it's mandate, and the states must now be responsible for it's shortcoming.

When is President Obama going to ask congress to change this law? They pass laws without even reading what is in the law so this should be easily to make happen.

I don't follow your point. Are you trying to say that Congress won't do their job unless somebody asks them to do their job?

Right now it looks like no one is doing the job. Give me one reason why President Obama and/or congress wants to add the burden of cost to house/educate and provide health care to 10,000's of people who are crossing the border illegally. As Steven says we should take care of our own before every other human on earth.

There are no real non-political reasons that make sense. You have the democrats that are pandering to the Latino vote, and the Republicans that refuse to help fix anything that might boost Obama's success. So they both sit around with thumbs up their asses while trying to blame the other side for having no progress.

Put the Blame on Mexico. The Mexican government wants to rid their country of undesirables and people that will be a burden to their economic well being.
The easiest solution is to get them into the soon to be the "United States of Mexico"

    I would say:
If you are representing the Democratic view. It would be the more illegals that are in this country the better it is for the party.
If you are representing the Republican view. It would be wait and see, we can always change our position later.
