Ethics Committee agenda (1) Hart defends hiring not one but two relatives. Stated he did not realize he was violating code. hiring cousins because he has 300 cousins. Could not understand why his two appointments and Clifford (Lions Club member with Hart, Hart just last week appointed Clifford's son to town job) were allowed to participate in questioning and. voting on Hart's violations. (2) Elling arrives with an attorney and Clifford adjourns meeting (4 yes Gehen,Clifford, Carpenter , and another Hanley appointment, (2) no Martin and Manley) to go into executive session. I believe this violates everything associated with an Ethics Committee , I thought the ethics committee was suppose to be open tithe public. Anyone with any knowledge to this issue would be appreciated

Ethics committee met today 9/7/2014. Elling's acceptance of Super Bowl tickets from major campaign contributor and developer Hormoz on agenda. Elling appeared with his atty. and 3 witnesses. Clifford makes motion to retire into Executive. Session. Elling, Atty.,3 witnesses go into back room.Clear violation of Open Meeting Law. Elling's Atty. questions 1st witneswho states Elling is known nickname as West Seneca.2nd witness Union president at Erie County Water Authority testified on Code of Ethics at Water Authority. Clifford's questioning witness if he would accept tickets. Clifford a Hanley appointment. and Board Chairman trying hard to defend Elling's acceptance of tickets. Both witnesses appearances are irrelevant on the. charges of his acceptance of Super Bowl tickets and expenses to New York
On the violation of Open Meeting Law Martin states Committee is in violation of a judges decision and Committee lawyer. Agreed. Chairman Clifford ,Amy Carpenter ( yes same one who for years complained of West Seneca politicians violating. Open Meeting Law) ex Police Chief Gehen, still state the will retire into Executive Sessions ignoring their own atty. and a Judicial decision Ethics Committee needs a Comittee to watch over their own political agenda and violations

On the Hart decision of the Committee in regards to hiring a relative ,new evidence was placed into the record. Sup. Meegan. stated in a letter to the Committee she never asked Hart to bring a motion to the Town Board to hire Hart's cousin. If the Committee would have asked her they would have known Hart lied to the Ethics Board stating Meeghan asked a favor of. From him to second the Walsh appointment. Sup. Meeghan admonished the Committee for not investigating the complaint. against Hart and just rubber stamping its decision It appears it is not a violation to lie to the Ethics Committee
