Travel Time Sign on the 990 near UB

What's going on with that sign they put up that tells you the time to downtown via the 290 East or West. They put the thing up 2 or 3 years ago and its been sitting there inactive ever since. Why does this government choose to piss away our money on useless things and to boot they can't even get the project done??? Maybe Susie Surdej over at DOT can blow smoke up our asses and tell us whats going on.

Drove by around 1:30 this afternoon and saw Michael Wooten from Ch2 taping a report in front of this sign. Looks like the word got out.

State D.O.T. says non-working I-990 sign will work by Dec.

AMHERST, N.Y. -- The State Department of Transportation says a decision by a contractor led to a sign being placed along Interstate 990 that doesn't work, but it should be functioning by December.

2 On Your Side earlier reported on the mysterious sign, which is supposed to alert drivers on the 990 which route is fastest into Downtown Buffalo -- either the 290 East to the 90 to the 33, or the 290 West to the 190.

The sign was actually installed in May of 2012; however, it still doesn't work.

Interesting....so because the news reported on it, it's now getting fixed. I wonder if the original contractor was paid to hook it up but ever did, and what it will cost to fix

According to the news report, we paid $45,000 for this stupid sign. I can think of a lot of better places $45,000 can go, like back in people's pockets.

Here we are halfway through December. Drove by today saw some guy from DOT in a little car working on it. Thats odd because they blamed it on the contractor.
