15 Year Old Shot in Buffalo's Third Shooting in One Week OMG and this is right after erks gun buy back program.
It was back on August 12th that two shootings happened, both claiming the lives of teen victims and injuring others.

14 year old Ray Floyd Patterson III was killed and three other teens were wounded when police say Joseph Gant fired shots into a crowd of teens on the Oakmont Avenue footbridge that connects Roosevelt Park to the Kenfield-Langfield housing projects.

Later that night the violence continued when two teenagers were shot on Shirley Avenue.

17 year old Ronnie Scott was killed in that shooting. Police say Scott knew his attacker who remains on the loose.

Look at Detroit. In January, the police chief asked the good and law abiding citizens to arm themselves because they only had 2300 police officers.

    In July he said,

Detroit has experienced 37 percent fewer robberies in 2014 than during the same period last year, 22 percent fewer break-ins of businesses and homes, and 30 percent fewer carjackings. Craig attributed the drop to better police work and criminals being reluctant to prey on citizens who may be carrying guns.

“Criminals are getting the message that good Detroiters are armed and will use that weapon,” said Craig, who has repeatedly said he believes armed citizens deter crime. “I don’t want to take away from the good work our investigators are doing, but I think part of the drop in crime, and robberies in particular, is because criminals are thinking twice that citizens could be armed.

Some one posted, "this is right after erks gun buy back program" -

Not sure of what that means but, I support the buy back.

The guns coming in range from air operated to high power assault weapons. I support gun rights and ownership. The guns turned in had no valid use or reason to be floating around. They easily could have been used for illegal reasons.

Why would anyone have a problem with people willingly turning them in ?

Whether if you support Major Brown or not - the program has merit.

Especially now that Gov,Cuomo has now made those past/present owners criminals due to the Safe Act Laws. No one wants to be hit with prison time for having a gun in their home left by a relative or deceased husband or spouse. No one wants a child/relative to find these guns and possibly take them to the streets.

Just my opinion - not attacking anyone - accept the Safe Act

Former Eden High School Coach Admits to Raping Juveniles

A former assistant wrestling coach for Eden School District pleads guilty to two counts of third degree rape.

27 year old Justin Farrara admitted to separately engaging in sex with two juveniles at his former residence in August of 2012 and April of this year.

Prosecutors say Eden school officials learned of the inappropriate relationships from social media posts. They say both victims disclosed the relationships to school officials when questioned.

The original comment was regarding a satirical perspective that The Safe Act was 'working'.....

Cuomo described the law as the "toughest" gun control law in the United States. The Safe Act is supposed to curb gun violence. The reality is The Safe Act does and will due little to nothing to curb the majority of gun violence because the tools of The Safe Act are for people who try to acquire or own guns through legal methods.

The reality is The Safe Act was designed as a PR opportunity for Cuomo to use as a building block for higher office. Instead of actually trying to do something that would curb gun violence, he pushed a law that punished people who want to own guns the right way. FWIW, Chicago has some of the strictest guns laws in the US...and we can see how much good that is doing for them.

Deputies uncover large scale meth operation

LITTLE VALLEY, N.Y. (WIVB) – A tip led deputies to discover a large scale methamphetamine operation in Little Valley on Monday.

The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force and State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team spent hours at a home on South Court Street, seizing numerous pieces of evidence, including lab equipment, meth precursors, solvents, reagents and surveillance equipment. Officers say they also found 14.8 ounces of meth.

Lucas Leclerc was taken into custody. The 32-year-old is being held without bail pending arraignment in Buffalo Federal Court.

Vickers takes Niagara sex crime plea

LOCKPORT – Level 3 sex offender Sean M. Vickers, already facing a 50-year maximum prison sentence in Genesee County for molesting three boys, pleaded guilty Monday to molesting the same boys in Niagara County last year.

It took more than three hours of negotiation and consultation on the morning Vickers’ trial was to begin before the 45-year-old Geneva man took the deal the District Attorney’s Office offered: guilty pleas to three felonies, one for each victim, in exchange for a 20-year sentencing cap.

Vickers admitted to attempted first-degree criminal sexual act, second-degree criminal sexual act and attempted first-degree sexual abuse, all for incidents in March 2013 in the Somerset-Middleport area.

Assistant Public Defender A. Joseph Catalano said, “My client has had some time to devote to personal introspection. He believes this plea is in his best interest.”

Vickers was convicted July 31 in a Genesee County jury trial of two counts each of first-degree sodomy and first-degree criminal sexual act and one count of first-degree sexual abuse. Judge Robert Noonan is to sentence him Aug. 28, the Genesee County DA’s Office said. He will be sentenced in Niagara County on Sept. 26.

why you asking me, I didn't start the thread.

To be honest I don't understand why there are any crime threads on what is supposed to be a political message board. I know about 3 yrs ago a kid from the falls got banned for continually posting crime stories.

At least it is local crime.

In deadly NYC jail beatings, no criminal charges -

NEW YORK (AP) — Agitated and hallucinating from alcohol and heroin withdrawal, inmate Angel Ramirez took a swing at a jail guard and missed.

What followed, according to investigative documents obtained by The Associated Press, was a quick punch back from the guard that put Ramirez on the floor. Then he was dragged away, beyond the view of security cameras, and three other guards were called in. Inmates later told investigators they heard screaming and the sickening crack of nightsticks against bone.

Ramirez, 50, died of numerous blunt-impact injuries that included a ruptured spleen, shattered ribs and a stomach filled with blood. When a jail investigator interviewed the guards — eight months later — they insisted Ramirez was struck only once and only in self-defense.

That July 2011 case is among three deaths in New York City's jails over the past five years in which inmates were alleged to have been fatally beaten by guards. Yet in none of those cases was anyone ever charged with a crime.

"It's outrageous," said Ramirez family attorney Scott Rynecki, who is suing the city and provided the investigative document to the AP. "You have to have a better system in place."

The lack of accountability in the city's jail system was singled out time and again in a scathing federal review issued this month.

The government lawyers focused on juvenile facilities at the huge jail complex called Rikers Island but said their conclusions probably extend to all Rikers jails. They found that beatings often occurred out of view of security cameras, internal investigations took months to complete, and guards falsified or otherwise failed to properly fill out use-of-force forms documenting incidents.

The result, they wrote, is "a culture in which staff feel empowered to use force inappropriately, in ways that go outside the bounds of written policies, because they know they are unlikely to face any meaningful consequences."
