Cheektowaga, NY (WBEN) - After Dennis Gabryszak resigned from office following allegations of sexual harassment, there was no special election to name a replacement for the 143rd District.

Instead, that person will be chosen in November's general election, and on Wednesday the first candidate for the seat has emerged.

Republican Angela Wozniak, a member of the Cheektowaga Town Council, announced her candidacy today in front of what used to be Gabryszak's office.

"We're here today in front of a vacant office," said Erie County Republican Chairman Nick Langworthy. "That office is vacant because of Albany corruption. Angela Wozniak has stood up to reform government in the town of Cheektowaga in her two short years as Councilwoman."

"While in Office, I have championed term limits, downsizing the number of councilmembers from seven to five, tax reform, ethical reform, and school board consolidation," Wozinak said of herself.
