    Zumba

It is the best exercise routine. You burn between 400 and 1000 calories in an hour. I highly recommend it, it's soooo much fun.

Sounds wonderful but what about people who are seniors? How does this affect us oldies with some arthritis and muscle joint pain?

And does Zumba come out away from Buffalo?

Hi Shortstuff...Do you dance at weddings? Zumba is a really good workout for people of all ages. In fact tonite..every Tuesday and Thursday this is particularly for the Zumba beginners and the deconditioned adult. I think that immobility is for sure our worst enemy so there is no one putting any age on Zumba to get on the dance floor and party!

As for outside of Buffalo we are in over 100 countries...check it out on Zumba.com

Ditch the workout and Join the Party!

Get to the gym and start a strength program and take fish oil if you don't already.

Zumba and other cardio is OK but it doesn't make your muslces, ligaments, tendons, and bones strong. Strength training does.

Tufts University completed a strength-training program with older men and women with moderate to severe knee osteoarthritis. Study results showed that strength training:

    •decreased pain by 43%
    •increased muscle strength
    •improved physical performance
•improved signs and symptoms of the disease
    •decreased disability

Thanks ship, you are right. I do hydraulic training at Fit Live right now (known as the old Curves) and they do have strength training also. I do plan on getting into that program as well.

I found that fish oil didn't do much for me and I just hated taking it. Studies don't really conclusively state it is proven in lowering cholestrol or aiding in strength training.

    Great advice thank you...

There's something unsettling about Zumba that I can't put my finger on. Maybe it's because I start singing a Wreckx-N-Effect song every time I hear the term. There's certainly not anything wrong with that, but I may be outclassed at such a workout.

Most of all I like bulldozers and dirt
