Free New York will hold a press conference on Thursday, June 18th, at noon in Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo, to release a ten point plan for real reform in NY. The people are demanding change but all they get is empty promises, vague cliches and meaningless procedural reforms that have failed in the past.

Free New York's plan will actually address what is wrong with NY government: too many government agencies employing too many people making too much money.

For years, Free New York advocated a drastic reduction in the size of state and local government in New York. Now that some of the political leadership claims to have caught up with us, we are releasing a list of ten needed reforms most of which have been the subject of our policy studies published in recent years. They include abolishing gerrymandering, corporate welfare, and public authorities.

The public is encouraged to attend and take the reform proposals to the local offices of their state legislators.

    Reminder, press conference tomorrow.

After the event, you can take the agenda to your legislators--we will have a list.

Jim - What do you hope to accomplish with this?

I say this, not sarcastically, but seriously -- how will you measure your success five years from now? Please try to be specific, and, please try to avoid rhetoric and catch phrases.

I ask you this now, as the plan has not yet been released, and, I am, obviously, not criticizing it.

What change will you bring about?

You pared down to a 10 point plan from your original 12?

Glad I could help with your editing there. I still think you could knock a couple more off...but it's a good start
    But your being a dick

The other thing we need is 50 thousand people downtown and in Albany,

Honestly Jim,, I just think the smart one just vote with their feet and leave,, the others either benefit from the gubment or just auschwitz victims with blank expressionless fixed stares.

For the record I am for mobilizing and at least doing SOMETHING!

The purpose of today's press conference is very specific.

Lots of people, groups and politicians are talking reform but much of the reform is faux reform like Golisano or Collins or Higgins or the Partnership or Unshackle.

Recently, the state Republicans, out of power, started to sound like Free NY. Then, they took power. So, we figured we'd call their bluff and lay out a real reform agenda.

It's a press conference with the public invited to attend and then lobby their legislators--we will have all the nec. info.

But you don't schedule an event at noon on a weekday for crowd count. It's primarily a press conference.

As far as 50,000 people, it's very difficult to organize opposition to the regime. I know, I've been trying for 35 years. Difficult to raise money. Impossible to rein in the egos. Impossible to reconcile conflicting agendas and strategies.

What I did then is develop a stragegy that basically makes each activist a one-person cell for a velvet revolution. It's zero budget and beyond a website, requires no real organization. If it catches fire, it will be unstoppable and will bring down the evil regime.

That's the 12 point plan for direct citizen action.

But there will be no revolution today, just the release of a muscular reform agenda.

Whenever you have a chance, please answer my question from yesterday. What are your goals, Jim? How will you measure your success?

It's hard to take the question seriously. For five years I have hammered away. I wrote a book. I have 200 articles online. The Free NY plan is online. What more do you want to know?

Who, from the "press," attended your conference?

I want to know what you're looking to accomplish, and, how you will measure your success.

How does the fact that you have written a book, 200 articles, and a 10-point plan relate to success?
    There is no correlation.

    Writing does not equate accomplishments.

As usual, you missed my point. I find conversations with you no where fast so you bear a heavy burden in getting me to respond to such open-ended questions.

Why not just say what's on your mind?

I've been pretty concise in my questions, Jim.
If you want to pretend you don't understand, then that's your prerogative.
