    BOE telling the truth??

What is going on here on the Island? On the "Grand Island central school district board of education" facebook page a resident of the Island asks if it is true a student was disciplined about wearing a NRA shirt, the response from the BOE was no, just a rumor. Then last nite on the tv there is a complete story including the interview with the student and his parents saying the story was totally true. Why is the BOE lying to the public? Do they think all Islanders are ignorant to the truth especially when we see it right on the nightly news. The board member who said it was just a rumor needs to either explain or resign. Come on Islanders if our BOE lies about something like this they may be lying about a lot of things that we never find out. Contact the superintendent or BOE and demand an explanation. Did our brand new superintendent come up with this lie? If so she must go. This story would never had come to light unless Islander Russ Thompson brought it to the public eye.

Anyone anywhere who believes anything that their board of education or superintendent tells them is a fool. They're bought and paid for by the teachers unions and their adjuncts, the PTA's. Dishonesty & dissembling are old hat to all of them. The Buffalo public schools only appear exceptional because the incompetence of the administration is so blatant and in your face and the selfishness of the teachers union and it's callous disregard of the students is so obvious and out front. However, these are only differences of degree and not differences in kind from every school district in the area.

Grump - don't do that - every Town and City has these type Boards - why would anyone want to wake up to the facts of how they operate ?

These people aren't "Political" - they have no "Party Driven agenda" - and everyone knows not one of them have any ulterior motives other than "Serving their community - their doing it for the kids"

In Lancaster - five students were pulled into the "Schools Resource Officers" room and questioned about hats they've been seen wearing. The hats had "XXX" on them. The Officer said he had "Inside information" that they were some how "Gang Related" - they were one by one pulled out of class and questioned and intimidated -

When all was exposed - the "XXX" meant "No cigarettes - No drugs - No Sex" - it was a group that opposed premarital sex and drugs among High School aged youth.

Thanks for the information. But what makes you think that school districts oppose student drug use and premarital sex. It would surprise me not in the least to learn that the school knew full well what the symbols meant and sought to stifle what they perceived as a message that didn't support the district's narcissist nihilist agenda.

I say doing it for the kids is a joke. In friday's(3/28/14) Island Dispatch a article on reductions to cover school budget gaps says,"Personnel reductions would include eliminating three elementary teachers(K-6) a reading teacher, two school related personnel a secondary music teacher and a foreign language teacher plus elimination of the home economic program at the high school."There is no mention of one administrator or vice principle or anyone not directly affecting the students being let go. They are just letting go of the personnel who directly affect the children. It is not all about the kids, it is about keeping high paying jobs with administrators. Our new superintendent(Grand Island) is playing the same game as any politician , cut that what most affects the people, thereby trying to influence the voting public to vote for a higher budget. Such a disgrace.
