Town of Holland property taxes going up $120 !!!

Well, this sure is a nice Christmas present to the TAXPAYERS of the Town of Holland!! Property taxes will be going up $90.00 per $100,000 assessed value. This is on top of the new Fireman's Pension of between $30- $32.00 . Oh , and our elected leaders were nice enough to vote themselves a 3 to 5 % pay raise !!

How does one go about enacting term limits on the local level?

    You are kidding, right?

It's called voting for the non-incumbent. If a majority of you and your fellow citizens can't vote out an incumbent then that means the majority of your fellow citizens want the incumbents to remain in office.

All term limits do is limit the choices.

If you can't win at the voting booth guess what - you are not in the majority and you should not be running your local government.

Once again we hear the blather and misinformation blurted out by iworshioparock. The incumbents often have an advantage, term limits are good, and since most politicians of today do not have the character of a George Washington, it is high time this thought process is enjoined.

No one gets elected without people voting. Each voter makes a personal choice and exercises a personal right in doing so. If the majority of voters don't vote for Candidate A, then he or she does not win. Term limits are solely in the hands of the voters now. No need for an artificial limitation that restricts the choice of voters.

Those who support term limits as law are arrogant nats who think their fellow citizens are too stupid to be allowed to vote in the first place.

Two words that beg for term limits:

    "Chuck" "Schumer"

He is so encrusted with rust that even CLR does not make a dent.

One of the best Senators we have had in my lifetime, even though I don't agree with him on every position. The opposition has never put up anyone worthy of replacing him. Until they do, he'll keep winning re-election.

Term limits are an election affirmative action program for what would otherwise be losers.

Let's take the conservatives at their word - Obama is an illegal alien with no qualification to hold public office.

Then one would have to conclude that ANYONE can become a senator, unless they have less qualification than an illegal alien with no qualification to hold public office, which would be all those who have lost to our two existing senators are less qualified than an illegal alien with no qualification to hold public office.

why would anyone want to help those losers gain election with term limits?
