Sen. Kerry calls for ban on imported firearms

In order to prevent the spread of the Mexican Drug Wars into the United States Senator Kerry stated he believes the US should ban imports of weapons.

Gee, it is a good thing that they have the southern border and coasts so locked down that they could enforce this and it wouldn't just end up infringing on regular peoples' ability to own a firearm.

They cant prevent the flow of drugs or money across that pourous border, so why not take a stab at the flow of guns?

Yeah, sounds doable, especially when coming from that guys lips....

But on the positive side, if that helped persuade foreign gun manufacturers to start making more of their products here in the USA, and therebye spawn additional economic growth, I'm absolutely all for it.

    Upon further review....

The fact about how 90% of the weapons in the Mexican drug war originate in the United States is actually horribly incorrect.

It's actually ~17% for a variety of reasons which are listed in the article. It's a neat article. It is probably too much to hope for a retraction from the media every time they've said the 90% figure.

Anywho, I think there are probably better ways we can help the Mexicans win the drug war. Two: 1) Decriminalize drugs, at the very least marijuana. 2) Seal the border from illegal immigrant traffic.

    Thoughts?

hostile take over. We invade Mexico and do a regime change. Like Iraq. on this time its alot easier to get there as all we gotta do is drive a few hundred miles.
I believe in the Constitution, maybe you should too.

the mexican drug cartels aren't even getting their guns from here
and imported guns are already heavily regulated

the dims want to ban all guns, they just don't have the nerve to admit it
