    Question Comcast in Buffalo?

Did our viewing area get sold to Comcast? I just saw one of their commercials on ABC. Is it official now? Well, it can't be much worse than adelphia.

Why is adelphia considered worse in your case?

I thought it got sold to Verizon but we should be asking a bigger question

I thought it got sold to Verizon but we should be asking a bigger question

I dont care whether its Verizon or Comcast.

    I care about jobs!

I care about whether they will be keeping or expanding customer service jobs in Buffalo

I care about whether they will be expanding services in Buffalo with more local content

I care about whether they treat Buffalo like Geico treats Buffalo and they make Buffalo a regional center in both technology (telecommunications, voip, internet, pay tv, programming, etc) and services.

Why would they do that here when they can do that like everywhere else for less in taxes?

I was under the impression that the Upstate NY Adelphia cable systems were being sold to Time Warner not Comcast. Adelphia's properties in Pennsylvania are being sold to Comcast.

Wouldn't this be in the news somewhere to confirm?

Yet if they receive tax breaks in order to save jobs, half the posters on this MB will complain.

Well, it was run by criminals. Their actions cost many local people a lot of money, stock wise. They overcharge for an inferior product. Their customer service is horrible. They try to get away with telling the customer as little information as possible (try to find a complete listing of rates).

I don't know of anything good about adelphia.

I was thinking the same thing, but then again, i've never seen a comcast commercial before in this area and found it strange.

Because as a Buffalonian, I want good things for my hometown!

There will always be a cheaper place or a better place.....just like there will always be a better spouse or a better job or a better house but lets not fool ourselves, Buffalo has good things to offer and we shouldnt be ashamed to say that we are good people in Buffalo and we have a good life here worthy of investing ones life, family and business here! I know, as well as, everyone else whats wrong with our city but lets be fair and also dwell on whats good about our city too!

They should expand in Buffalo as we are a regional center!
Buffalo is a medium sized city with the capacity to double in size, its has the telecommunications infrastructure to hangle immense amounts of data and voice, thanks to our conduit to Canada, every telecommunications company has lines running through our city, we are also have a significant customer service and back office workforce, as well as, technology and distribution.

We are a city that has good private schools, numerous festivals - restaurants - bars - cultural activities, plus sports and outdoor activities for every season whether in the mountains or on the water. We are a great undiscovered city!
