    Basketball Shooting Clinic Sat.

I am running a basketball shooting clinic this Saturday am in Buffalo and have one or two slots left. It's free but invite only. If you know of a player, 10-15, boy or girl, who is serious about the game and has a good work ethic, let me know, fast. Written materials will be provided. We will cover the five main shots in basketball. jameso@apollo3.com

I should have put more of my background here but I re-posted what I sent to my players.

I played basketball for many years (more playground ball than team) and have coached youth basketball for two years plus little league for five. I am writing a book on basketball for kids. This project forced me to write the chapter on shooting which will be handed out to the kids. Been studying the jump shot since I read Jerry West's bio around 1970.

I was just curious. My grankids are all out of state now but my own sons went to randy smith's clinics when he used to hold them sometime during the last century. Theey never went far in basketball, fishing and volleyball were what they wanted.

Randy Smith was awesome. I focus on shooting because that's my strong suit. Can't dribble worth a damn.

I played some point guard because I could not do a lay up. my strongh point was assists and one dribble jump shots moving in either direction. but like my sons I enjoyed other sports more. with me it was baseball and football played no equipment tackle football until I was 35 Pick up gamess mostly against anyone who wanted aa game. I pitched modified. fast pitch and figuire eight. mostly in church leagues. Quit pitching when I turned 55. Just could not run the bases any more. my stigmatizum (sp) also made the ball appear to jump up and down so I had trouble hitting

Can't do a layup either. Always played center because I was tall. So I made sure my son knows how to handle the ball and can play point guard. Not too many 6-2 centers in college.
