I've lived in Lackawanna for almost 6 years now. I've been a homeowner since June 2006. Unfortunately, I'm still not all that aware of what goes on. My family is not from Lackawanna. I just happened to be renting here and then also just happened to buy a house here. I can't say I'm unhappy. I love my street, I love the Southtowns (I consider my area part of that). I'm not happy with what I've been reading about the corruption in city hall. I hope this will be a place to discuss such things, and learn more about what goes on.

    Thumbs up Youth Executive position

SOunds good. Let's get started. Do we need a Youth Department Executive? Eventhough he's a part time but I think he's position must be elliminated and the Department if Rec. can do his job.

What's he getting paid for? Nothing's available for youth in Lackawanna.

This sounds like the same debate that goes on in WS.

    No. It's a huge difference.
You can't even compare the West Seneca services to the lackawanna' services. No services available in here.

Ikeep mu eyes on the events' calendar all the time. You can start doing it too.

    Where do people sociallize?

There is no debate, West Seneca has a rich youth program as zanna has attested. Actually, 100 years ago Lackawanna was part of West Seneca. Too bad they split apart. Today, Lackawanna is best known for seven ot its prominent citizens.

Having grown up in WS, I was never aware of anything the Youth Bureau did. I think they used to have gymnastics classes at the Kiwanis Center or something.

I was refering to the debate over exactly what it is the Youth Director does that the Recreation Department can't, and the "need" for another salary on the payroll. In WS, I believe that "Director" position is around $20k, for part-time work, in addition to the $80K+ that he (Lazzarra) was receiving for his "work" with the Americorp. Just so everyone is up to speed, Manny. Correct the numbers if I'm off, please.

Lackawanna may not be perfect. I'm not sure any town is after reading about what passes for the status quo.

Have you seen a new city of Lackawanna website? Remember the old "darkblack" version of it?

Talking We are Dynasty, The MIGHTY MIGHTY DYNASTY!

    OH YEAH! FYI Folks,
Dynasty Football Team, OUR non-for-profit, semi-pro, grassroots formed and founded Lackawanna Dynasty WON their Superbowl In Cincinnati Ohio yesterday! They had a 13-0 season and are now their division champs! There was a parade in the 1st Ward last night and people screaming in the streets and kids getting autographs!
In 1936 our Forefathers built the sports stadium on South Park Avenue in Lackawanna with the hopes of this happening and it is, everything does come full circle.
Our home team is on the front cover of news in Cincinnati, I hope our City/Citizens realize what a gem, boost Dynasty Football is to the City of "LACK"awanna, and surrounding communities.
Positive news from "Lack"awanna for a "change"!
