Bruno indicted on bribery, kickback charges

ALBANY –- Former Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno was reindicted by a federal grand jury on corruption charges, two years after his conviction in a similar case was set aside after the U.S. Supreme Court restricted prosecutions involving the "honest services" law.
Bruno appeared at a federal courthouse in Albany today, and his attorneys vowed a vigorous defense.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Bruno defrauded the state of his "honest services" by accepting bribes and kickbacks totaling $440,000 from an Albany-area businessman.
