Why would Carl have Gingrich for a gathering downtown along with Rus and crew?....instead of Ron Paul?

Because Carl's entire political gig is potty mouthed bravado. Just like Newt.
Tea baggers want someone who'll call President Obama names. They aren't interested in addressing issues. They want to scream and yell and act like Howard Beale, who most tea baggers think was a real person.
Ron Paul addresses the issues. I don't agree with his assertions on many issues, but at least he addresses them with reasoning instead of emotional bat swinging bravado.
Something else you'll notice - Ron Paul calls President Obama "President Obama". Newt can bring himself to say "President Obama"
But Carl makes valid points on some topics and your way over simplifying their behavior.
Most of the people who I have met who seemed to relate to the "Tea Party" only talked issues. I wonder what events you attended that would give you that idea about "tea party" people.
I looked back..
In 2009 the event that I stopped at had this on the wall...
An actual banner on the "issue" of the value of our dollar bill. I didn't see any banners that said "Obama (fill in potty mouth word" banners.
I didn't see potty mouth literature... Some about work ethics...

All Carl knows is adolescent acidic spew.
Carl Paladino, Newt Gingrich Surrogate, Asks 'What The F*** Is A Matter' With Rest Of Field
Carl on the issues:
Are those issues the republican party is addressing in deciding upon its nominee?Failed New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino traveled north to New Hampshire this weekend to support presidential candidate Newt Gingrich and to hurl insults at the rest of the GOP field.
Employing his trademark abrasive rhetorical style, Paladino took direct aim at Jon Huntsman and Gingrich's other rivals for comments made during Saturday's debate in New Hampshire.
"Romney's a plastic tool of the Republican establishment," said Paladino. "He's got his 25 percent, and we're tryin' to get the conservative 75 percent." He was optimistic about this. "At some point, the voters figure out that Ron Paul will head back to his mothership, and that Huntsman's in over his head, and that Perry's just angling for a job."
And more of Carl on the issues:
Carl is probably in bed with Newt because Romney, Santorum, and Paul probably "no thanks" when he tried to hitch to their wagons. Newt liked Carl because they both spoke the same no-issue gutter language:“If Newt can put up a decent number in New York, I think he’d have some power at the convention,” Paladino told Capital New York. He also had some salty words for people who worry about the effect of a brokered convention (“they’re a bunch of pussies”) and compared Romney to G.E. head Jeffrey Immelt, who he called “a f*cking two-faced c*ck-sucker that shipped the x-ray division over to China last week.”
Nogods is basically right. Res, the tea event you cite was co-sponsored by Free New York and was thus issue-oriented. The tea movement started as a revolt against both parties but ended up as a tool of the GOP.
But nogods likes to paint entire groups of people by using one person as the "example".
You can not say 95% of the the people who associate with the teaparty are copies of Carl. Jim, as you stated, that was a tea event that was co-sponsored by you and others and focused on issues.Tea baggers want someone who'll call President Obama names. They aren't interested in addressing issues. They want to scream and yell and act like Howard Beale, who most tea baggers think was a real person.
I wasn't bringing up if the GOP took over the group or not. I was addressing nogods habit of painting the entire tea party group with the actions of one person.
Wouldn't you rather have a potty mouth person in office or a murderer, rapist, pedophile?

John Wayne Gacy, rapist, murderer, democrat fund raiser
Neil Goldschmidt, Oregon governor, confessed child molester
Brian Doyle, dem activist child molester
Former Sen. Brock Adams, rape
So no nogods which of the above describes you the best? Your a democrat.

whether you love him, like him, hate him or despise him, what would this area do without a Carl P. ? This ares is better with him here..at least he gets issues out there..and willing to speak up and take actions, whether you like the actions or not.
The guy DOES do a lot of good in the community that many people have no idea about. Simple example is the new boathouse that was dedicated last week.
So, he may have his agendas...but why is it okay for Occupiers and union-affiliated groups, and local politicos to have agendas, but he get's vilified for for trying to make WNY a better place. Good for him, and good for anyone else if they also make a bit of $$ doing so. Most wealthy folks are unheralded, anonymous financial benefactors in the communities they do business in.
From what i recall, CP liked Newt from the very start, and went to New Hampshire also. CP believes in NG. Good for CP for sticking with someone he believes in. I think CP also believes in the WNY community.,no matter how backwards it can be at times. Say what ya want about the guy, but he hasn't abandoned WNY and the city. For that, folks should be thankful for a guy like that in this community...although im sure the Bflo news would LOVE for him to go away. he has the b@alls (And $$) to say and act on things that many of us would never have the nerve to do/say publicly.
lol..and no..not related. i just appreciate that the community has a guy like that...the good the bad the ugly..whatever...on net, he is a positive for the community at large, including trying to hold people accountable while most of us are at our day jobs.
Ron Paul is good man...he would be great to have as a speaker at UB..and wold likely have a larger forum and more media coverage than Mr Gingrich got.
So if your kid is the smartest, most compassionate kid in the school, how well is all that going to carry him if every time he is asked a questions he begins the answer with "f you"?
Carl has only himself to blame for the clown outfit. That and whoever exposed his stupid emails.
if my kid is self made, resourceful, successful by most other socially accepted metrics, then , sure, the f bombs may take some of the sheen off the positives, but the positives are still positives.
On the flip side, what if the nicest guy in the whole big wide wide world, and was also the coolest (by mtv standards) was running for president of the land, does his smile, and charm and (alleged) cool factor make his economic failures more palatable and acceptable, just because he's a nice guy ?
of course, ya get more bees with honey, but on a net basis, even wiging in the f-bombs, his net results for the community are a positive. but i hear where you're coming from. but it does go both ways: his f bombs may detract from the positives, but by the same token, all the smiles and celberity-ish ness and perosnal lik-ability factor a barry o do NOT make him a good leader or a good chief executive.
im not comparing the 2, just trying to show how the politics of personality can easily sway opinions about the entire person and their contributions to a community (or, in obama's case, to a nation).
