No tax funded patronage job, not running for Office , I speak for myself.
When will voters out number tax funded employees at the polls?
If you notice the news placed a link for the "Local IDAs projects since 2010" but did not post a link for the Erie County IDAs projects for the same period. I wonder how the 2 would compare in the types of businesses receiving the tax break give-a-ways
Yes, there are FOUR on the town board
Was a good aritcle. I'm rather surprised they couldn't recieve all the details on the breaks. Why were some not provided?

It was mostly the Towns of Lancaster and Clarence IDAs that had a large amount of unprovided info

who did the paper work. They have to have all this information. They skim a few percent for their "services" so they have to have the numbers.
And as jobs provided did they physically materialize? Or was that data just taken as "jobs provided" when each deal was first created?

The Lancaster IDA now has their 2011 meeting minutes online but their resolutions aren't packed with information.

The Basil deal is the kind of thing (prior multiple posts) I have exposed for years. They are big financial supporters of the Lan Dem Committee and all its past and present candidates. Check out the St Mary's alumnia - notice many names repeat - over and over - then check the Lancaster Town/Village employment and appointed positions.![]()

why the confusion with the van
why is the town going to rochester for the van
why does basil always come up/idas/giza
At the last town board meeting, Councilman John Abraham expressed difficulty in voting for resolution #10; to award bid for 2012 Chevrolet 12 passenger Express Van from Joe Basil for $24,000. Abraham declared the same van could be purchased off the state bid list for $18,677, an expense saving of $5,337. “Why aren’t we using the state bid list?
Supervisor Dino Fudoli declared that changes were made to upgrade the vehicle and which were not on the state bid list specs – a rear locking differential and other options. “I just found out from John Trojanowsky (Youth Bureau Director who requested new van) that it did not make it out to the state bid. I thought it had been sent out. The changes that we made did change the price differential. I was looking to do business with a local business. It the price was close to that on the state bid list, I would have liked it to stay local. The state bid comes out of Rochester. This was a misstep on my part.”
Abraham interjected that even with the option changes the difference would not amount to $5,000 and that he could not vote for resolution approval. “I would be more comfortable rejecting the bid. I took the liberty of rewriting the resolution to reject the bid because I think we could get a better deal from the state list.”
Trojanowsky voiced that the bureau was in need of a van replacement ASAP and would not like to see the purchase delayed.
Abraham suggested the board suspend the rules and add two suspended resolutions, the first to reject the resolution bid and the second to accept the purchase from the state bid list. “I can’t get over the fact that there is a $5,000 difference between the two entities.”
Concern was expressed on whether the window of opportunity was open to place a state bid in time for a 2012 model and whether such vehicle is on lot. Trojanowsky interjected that the model in question was not on any lot and would have to be built. He added that the options added made sense to his staff after they considered the value- added gains.
Abraham stated that he wrote the new resolution for $21,000 which would include the added options and delivery charge. It still shows a $3,000 savings.
Trojanowsky declared that a van replacement was needed for safety reasons, reasons pointed out by past service visits. “We spent $900 in December 2011 and in weeks the brakes were gone again.”
Council member Donna Stempniak asked, “Why was this purchase not put to state bid?”
Fudoli responded that while they were considering putting the purchase out to state bid, he and Trojanowsky were considering the options suggested by Basil. “I thought it went out to state bid. We had the state bid initially and then we looked at doing business with a local company; to see if they could come close to the state bid."
During the public comment section of the full board meeting, resident Mike Fronczak asked why the original request for bids specified a Chevrolet van. Fudoli said he took responsibility for this mistake. Imagine that, an elected Lancaster official admitting he made a mistake.
That is refreshing to see an elected official admit that that there was a mistake made and he owned it. In the past, they were all in denial of any wrong doing (mistake)- Colecraft purchase.
Yes, there are FOUR on the town board
this sounded like it was the first time to bid a van
what is typical proceedure

Lee - can you please keep us updated to let us know what the van eventually winds up costing?
If they have to wind up getting a 2013, there's no way it will be cheaper.

Good catch. They did speak on the concern that in the eleventh hour a 2012 would be unavaiable and that a 2013 could increase the cost and where all savings would be eaten away. Trojanowsky claimed that model changeover would not take place until August and that he was confident the 2012 could stull be ordered, made to specs and received in a few months.
