Term limits for Cheektowaga limit voters choices

Angela Morton is proposing that the town board hold a public hearing about adopting an 8-year term limit.

At first blush, term limits sound like a good thing - move out the old and bring in the new.

But that is what elections are for, and local elections are the easiest for a new comer with little or no practical experience who isn't even a property owner to get elected.

Term limits in Cheektowaga will just disenfranchise the voters and limit our options.

Angela Morton won't need a term limit. The voters will give her one.

I think the Max machine disenfranchises the voters more than a term limit would. I'm all for term limits, clean out the deadwood and let some fresh ideas flow, who cares if their Dem or Rep. A couple of people sitting on the board should pack it in, one can't even answer questions anymore. It's very sad.

Term limits limit voters choices. why would anyone want to limit voters choices?

The losers always seem to want to limit voters choices in hopes of becoming winners.

Here's what Angela's proposal really says "The voters wanted Mary over Ted, so next time around we won't let Mary run to give Ted a chance."

That's how they run elections in Egypt. Maybe Ted and Angela should move there.

Term limits would let us have more choices, new people with new ideas. Every 2 years we're given the same slate of tired, worn out candidates who know that incumbents most always will win. Look at Rep Slaughter, 26 years in office, 82 years old, time to pack it in. But she will keep on winning as the party candidate in a gerrymandered district until she has one foot in the grave ( which she almost had last month)

First, Angela's proposal has nothing to do with congressional elections.

Second, every voter in Cheektowaga gets to vote for for every office - there are no districts to gerrymander.

Third, telling voters who they can't vote for limits voters' choices. If you can't understand that simple logic then perhaps you aren't a very informed voter.

Angela's proposal is nothing but a "help Ted the loser become a winner by eliminating opponents he can't beat."

It's the equivalent of proposing that the NFL limit coaches and quarterbacks to only 2 years of coaching and playing so that someone else will have a chance to win.

This is your town board. What shocks me is that some of you defend these losers. You deserve the high taxes.

"There are currently no job opportunities open for the public."

This is under the banner of "Job Opportunities" on the Town website. How true!

Of course he doesn't see it as a problem. He took over his dad's spot on the board. Of course the fox doesn't see the problem with himself guarding the hen house.

I forgot that he oversees our town fort.

Bogus issue. Find something else to squawk about. If you don't like the people in office then vote them out. Oh wait, you tried that and it didn't work. So now you want term limits so that the majority of voters who want a person to continue in office can't have what they want because you losers are crying about being rejected by the voters.

    Term limits are for losers.

rogoski oversees his cousin john jarosewski who is in charge of parks and recreation = a true violation of the code of ethics, yet is allowed to occur without any question by our town board

I am all for term limits on all government levels, and many people misunderstand what is term limits. Terms limits are for one thing, and one thing only they are to prevent too much nepotisms in one government entity or agency. What disenfranchise voters are the voters themselves by not voting or getting involved with politics. Look around America is heading in fact, has begun to be a socialist country one day all you will see is government asking you for your papers at Walmart. With that said, it all begins at the local levels. Once you lose the Town governments the state governments follow. I say, we need to fight, fight so what is ours. Not too many families can say they are Revolutionary War families but I can, and my view to watching this country being rip apart for political votes sucks. People like Slater, Holtz, others do poor work if this was 1920 they would be called mobster. NO…I am for term limits. Voters who think they are disenfranchised its their own fault.
