    My First Car

    Here I go....

First was a 1975 Datsun 280z that litterally rusted away on me...Everytime I looked at it there was less of a car...BUt boy did that little rice burner go.

Then I had a 1980 Ford Van which I had to finally get rid of because of rust.. Plus 380,000 miles on it....

Now my first true car is my 1970 Gto Convertible which Sloan Collision just about destroyed supposily restoring it for me. After throwing away over $10,700 with SLOAN COLLISION WHICH IS now AJ's collision on Broadway I believe. They done far more damage than just the $10,000 dollars. If you look in the dictionary under the word screwed, there's a photo of yours truely.

It's now being completely restored at Areo Collision in Lancaster. Couldn't be happier with the work they are doing.

This isn't the car but this was the color when first taken to Sloan collision.

    Gold and White top

I'm thinking of a different color though..

Here's red, but i'm not particular on red..

    A red one

I'm leaning towards black/purple tint or like a Canary Yellow maybe.

    A black one

Datsun B2-10, I think the floorboards rusted and fell out. Then drove a Mazda 626 which went aflame and was a mechanical mess.

    cant pass this one up

1957 ford cross breed. started out as just a two tone green fairlane with a bored out 312 V8 but!!!! a friend of mine had a shop and a "blue Printed" 396 chevy big block that we manage to squeeze in. only cut a little bit of wheel well out. rochester deuces sticking out the hood looked great but every time you stopped you had tyo cap them off to keep out the rain dual quad exhaust with cutaway headers. guess they call them dump valves glass pack mufflers better name would be echo chambers. Mickey thompson cheater slicks had to cut a grove as deep as abe lincolns head to pass inspection..crome star mag rims i mounted wheelie wheels on the back bumper for show . car spun the tires longer befor popping a wheelie . remember chicken shifting. where you parked in front of a brick wall Ten feet away usually. then tried to shift through all four gears befor hitting the wall. had to slap shift without using the clutch to do it . ment you had to read you tach closely. this car had the horses to still spin the tires in the same place in forth gear. of course we did have hidden hand brakes for the front wheels made better smoke that way

The reason this thread died down is because you have to be older to think back to a car that was so different it had character. Now, all the cars look the same. That computer modeling has shaped them all the same. The ornamentation is about the only thing different. Better materials are used in the more expensive cars but these you hardly see.

My second car was a sixty eight ford pickup.
That had a clutch two, but it was a three on the tree.

    names are important

when A car breaks down you have to know its name so it understands your mad at it. Becky that was the first car was picky I had to talk to it all the time.Myrtle (63 ford galaxie )had to have high test or it acted up. Now Ralph that was a car black 70 olds delta 88. four years without one break down never a complaint.
