The conversation they had at city hall holds as much weight as the conversation we're having right here. (i.e. not much)
Is there an area downtown big enough for a dome and all the required parking. Or do we have to tear down some historical buildings to do it.
Don't judge someone just because they sin differently than you
Put it where the Trico building is.![]()
The most foolish thing we've ever done was build a stadium in Orchard Park.
The city of Buffalo would benefit tremendously by have a dome arena that carries more events than just football , but a state of the art multi tasking facility that brings the city into the 21st century and not back in the 80's. Technology is advancing at a rapid pace renovations to the ralph cannot not keep up with that of other stadiums.
When people can't handle you, there is a propensity to try and discredit you.
This is assuming that Erie County Residents care about the city of Buffalo. Most suburbanites could care less about the city, don't want to go to the city, and avoid it at all costs. Most of them would rather not see a stadium in the city because they don't want to deal with the city. parking, traffic, and so on. People identify with the neighborhoods that they live in, not the closest city to them. They like convenience.
The stadium is in a good location, easy to get too. It would be a nightmare in the City. One building in the city will not make one difference, the woe is me mentality of the community leaders would not change.

We could knock down the galleria mall and place a stadium near that area. The businesses that are located in the mall can fill the vacant store fronts we see located in our community. It would be centrally located for the most part so the people from buffalo/burbs would have reasonable drive times. PLUS it is right off the thruway.. Because I'm pro labor I believe the general location will make it easier for people to walk to work. The Buffalo Airport will be able to offer game shuttle rides when all the tourist start to flock to see the billion dollar stadium on game day!!!!!... This way Mark Poloncarz can try to justify why the Erie County IDA gave tax breaks to a hotel near the mall. I can go on and on but I should be working![]()

Only problem being that area is not stable enough - remember the building issues when they built the mall?

All the kings said it was daft to build a castle on a swamp, but I built it all the same. Just to show 'em. That sank into the swamp... so I built a second one... that sank into the swamp... so I built a third one, that burned down, fell over and then sank into the swamp... but the fourth one stayed up!
Domes suck, and the actual city would be a horrible location. I live in the burbs, and until I started working downtown last year I avoided the city at all costs (about 2 years between trips). I would even turn down Sabres tickets because of all the hassles downtown. Why sink taxpayer money into a new stadium on the off chance that it keeps people around it before and after games. Leaving hundred dollar bills on the sidewalk would do that too, but it's not very smart. The reason I avoid the city is free parking and the crime (perceived or real). The crime rate in my neighborhood is less than 1% (1 maybe 2 calls a month), the city's crime rate will never be that low. Why would I willingly go to a higher crime area?
