THIS doesn't mean the use of IDA's while everyone else carries the burden of taxes. Remember the bs we got when the town board wanted the galleria mall built? "It would spur business growth and keep our taxes in line.."... FOOLED US didn't it. We pay some of the highest taxes to live in cheektowaga compared to our surrounding local neighbors.

I'm perplexed why a town board would saddle our town with a never ending monopoly to a group of people for garbage pickup or any services for that matter. Specially when we see we are spending 20 to 30% more than other areas of basically the same size. Plus we have privately owned businesses that do the same service in our surrounding towns. That action was not in our towns best interested from the look of things. We do not want people on our town board who would make decisions like that.

When I have time I'll post up which board members were part of that. Definitely wasn't a good decisions to make. At least in my opinion.

I thought the town board was supposed to look out for our entire towns best interest not the " politically connected democratic job program" bests interest.

Does anyone happen to know what manufacturer/part # garbage tote we are looking to use?

Did it go out to bid already?

I heard that $1,800,000 of our hard earn money was going to purchase these. Did we get quotes from the private trash collection companies before the idea of tote purchases even came up? If not I would say another bad decision by our town board.

$1,800,000 and if you can make 5% on the transaction in 30 days that is about $90,000. PO approved, product delivered to the sanitation department and payment in 30 days. Not a bad way to make $90,000. I just made 5% up because I have nothing to work on. Who ever is selling the totes isn't doing it for free.

Global market now also means Global politics.

the words used were that there was no cost to the taxpayers because they are using the fund balance

LOL, fund balance is taxpayers money. This balance is funded from overcharge of taxes from previous years (money left in budget).

Still would like to hear exactly how this "fund" is worded. Looks like there are some rules about how excess money is dealt with.

There really isn't nothing wrong with having a rainy day balance. But that doesn't mean our money should be spent foolishly or clearly not in our entire town's best interest.

I don't care about totes either way. A can is a can. I'm only referring to what is costs us to live in our homes. For our town's best interest we should look into privatization. Or bid a private company against the "group" who now has the "contract" to pick up the cans currently.

Whether you like it or not the town does not owe the "democratic social club" jobs. No less than you deciding to shop at Tops versus Wegmans for something you need.

If a group of people gave a open ended permanent contract for garbage pickup to one select group that was not done in our town's best interest. Specially seeing the "democratic social club" is ran on our time. Those people must not be allowed to make further decisions for our town because they are not acting in our town's best interest but more in their own self interests. At least that is how it looks....

I don't understand why you are defending what goes on in your community when some of the stuff is not in our best interest.

Do you negotiate with Tops if you decide to shop at Wegmans? No.

Do you negotiate with direct TV if you want to switch to Time Warner? No.

how long is the contract for? Can't say forever. Otherwise it is a monopoly and it shows the incompetence of the people who made the decision of entering that contract.

If people on the town board locked our community into a never ending sanitation contract in 2008 to give the cheektowaga democratic chairman a spot because others were bringing up his work habits they were not acting in our town's best interest.. They were working in their own self interests.

I'll give you a heads up. Teddy isn't my boy. I knew about this bs long before Teddy was on the scene. Some of our town employee bitch about some of the stuff we see going on and they don't like it either.

Over the years the controlling town board has pissed away our money rather freely on some items. That is how you end up with the highest property taxes in erie county. You finally get to a point where enough is enough. No hard feelings. It's all about money.

pissing away money on these totes was not Ted's idea. he wanted to privatize sanitation and save us taxpayers millions of dollars. it is one of the new business elected to the council who is pushing for the totes
