Once agian maybe if you went to one of the meetings you would know this there coming from Pennsylvania but you just live for asking stupid questions
It seems that some people only post here to put people down, call them stupid and such if they disagree with their thinking. I am glad that most people here are willing to help others get the information they are looking for or at least help them find it. I think your questions are legitimate but it seems that some people do not like to be questioned. You are just supposed to accept what they say as if they are smarter than you.
Of course the progressive, liberal way is to simply call names and ridicule anyone with a different view! I hope that you do not listen to the criticism and keep questioning what your government is doing. After all, you are the taxpayer and should be served by your government not ruled by them or called names for wanting to know details about what they do. People should hold office because they want to do what is right for the taxpayers not so they can have a job that pays better than others or for the health care and benefits of being in the job.
Take encouragement that you are doing the right thing and I hope that many others follow your lead! If government doesn't do what you want them to then it needs to be replaced with government that does what is best for the taxpayer not what is best for those in government.![]()
"The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help."

That's nice he is the owner I'm proud of him but he still the man of much mis info
Quite a few town employees fill me in with some of the crap that goes on. Majority of our employees are good workers. But what is finally boils down to is what is cost each of use to live in Cheektowaga. Simple as that. Global market now. We have to stay competitive. THIS doesn't mean the use of IDA's while everyone else carries the burden of taxes. Remember the bs we got when the town board wanted the galleria mall built? "It would spur business growth and keep our taxes in line.."... FOOLED US didn't it. We pay some of the highest taxes to live in cheektowaga compared to our surrounding local neighbors.
I'm perplexed why a town board would saddle our town with a never ending monopoly to a group of people for garbage pickup or any services for that matter. Specially when we see we are spending 20 to 30% more than other areas of basically the same size. Plus we have privately owned businesses that do the same service in our surrounding towns. That action was not in our towns best interested from the look of things. We do not want people on our town board who would make decisions like that.
When I have time I'll post up which board members were part of that. Definitely wasn't a good decisions to make. At least in my opinion.
I thought the town board was supposed to look out for our entire towns best interest not the " politically connected democratic job program" bests interest.
Does anyone happen to know what manufacturer/part # garbage tote we are looking to use?
Did it go out to bid already?
I heard that $1,800,000 of our hard earn money was going to purchase these. Did we get quotes from the private trash collection companies before the idea of tote purchases even came up? If not I would say another bad decision by our town board.
$1,800,000 and if you can make 5% on the transaction in 30 days that is about $90,000. PO approved, product delivered to the sanitation department and payment in 30 days. Not a bad way to make $90,000. I just made 5% up because I have nothing to work on. Who ever is selling the totes isn't doing it for free.

But nobody brings up line to line comparison of our garbage pickup because were and open ended pick up other towns are not so there is no comparison
Now apparently if privatized garbage collection is less expensive as shown in Amherst I would say the people involved in creating this monopoly of services were incompetent to say the least. If we don't want to use the term incompetent we could say they weren't working in the town's best interest but their own self interests.http://www.cheektowagabee.com/news/2...o_the_Max.html
Very often, Morton has drawn a comparison between Cheektowaga and Amherst. Cheektowaga, he pointed out, has a 40 percent smaller population but spends three times as much on sanitation.
Max scoffed at that notion, saying his department’s $9 million budget is fiscally responsible. He also said comparing Cheektowaga to Amherst is unfair, since Amherst has entirely privatized garbage collection.
